Deleted Comment of the Day November 24, 2003 8:36 PM   Subscribe

I haven't been called 'smartypants' since 1978 (it was on a radio show where we were not allowed to say "smart-ass"). It made me feel very nostalgic.
But the important question is: Does MetaFilter need Liability Insurance in case of just such an incident? And does Matt deleting smart-ass threads constitute a potential cover-up?

what a great username it would have been tho

The good, sensible MeFi member in me says "Hey! Matt deleted that thread for a REASON, bucko! Do we really need a MetaTalk thread about it?!?!", but the evil, subversive MeFi member in me says "Thanks, wendell! I missed this one, and that was for sure some funny stuff!"

And before anyone asks, no, I've never had a MeFi member in me, good and sensible or evil and subversive.

Actually, the point is a pretty good one: most of our most shining moments come when everyone knows that the thread is going to get deleted, and for good reason. I think this is MetaTopic #4 on the all-time top ten, though, so again, it probably doesn't really need to be hashed out again.

I think it's worth pointing out just for the fact that Matt's reason for deletion was phrased in haiku form.

wendell is a rogue poster and should be treated accordingly. death to all enemy combatants!

omg. The reason for deletion in haiku? Now I want him to do this every time. That's my pony.

naw, wendell just posted this in the hopes that he'll get lucky again.

Wendell did you attend "Happy Hour" prior to posting this?
Ok, think I may see your angle here: Matt deleting smart-ass threads constitute a potential cover-up?{Add} Because threads like these contain The Comment of the Day

Perhaps the coffee just hasn't kicked in yet, but I have NFI what is going on here.

for the record, I also posted this as a public service to the MetaTalk community by pushing the "Michael Jackson should be in JAIL, Part 2" thread off the front page

am i supposed to be getting pictures of these naked men dressed as clowns spanking each other?

Is this some sort of koan? What would a naked man dressed like a clown look like?

...or we could make this an Elephant's Burial Ground for comments and exchanges lost to thread deletion, for the benefit of those virginal MeFites who don't go looking for deleted threads...

Roo! Roo!

Deletion reason of the day: who says that I am the one/ But the kid is not my son

Okay, it's not a haiku, but I laughed.

I must state that deleted thread reasons are where we see mathowie express true glee. Glee is something we don't really celebrate. Let's begin.
