Amazon Affiliate? March 10, 2001 11:47 PM   Subscribe

Quick cash for Matt, or his evil twin Howie: I just made a bunch of links to Amazon, and while doing so thought, “If only Metafilter was part of the Amazon affiliate
program. Then he might make a few pennies off my reccomendation.” Couldn’t hurt anything but your karma.

That's a pretty interesting method of money making, especially for communities and other public-supported sites. I would make links to online stores every time I mention a product if Matt had an affiliate account. Not Amazon, for various reasons, but if Amazon could incorporate that into their micropayment scheme, it'd probably end up being rather popular.

acutally, I cancelled my haugheydotcom amazon account a few months back. I never saw more than ten bucks a quarter so it wasn't worth it.

I'd much rather do an automatic URL re-writer that converts amazon links to givequick links.
