Chicago meetup May 2001

Since there is a Seattle meeting brewing, I'd like to get a Chicago Metafilter get-together in the works. One possibility is a poetry reading being given by jason on 5/11, but then again we wouldn't get much of a chance to talk. (There was some talk of one last year that didn't get going, so I'll dig up that e-mail and send it around with a pointer to this thread.)

Wish I could come. Ann Arbor's a nice train ride away. But my wife would laugh scornfully if I suggested it.

i'll be there a couple weeks in june and would love to make it, since i don't think there will be a MeFi Tulsa or OK gathering anytime soon.

With sufficient notice, I might be able to make the trip up from St. Louis; besides, I've been considering a Chicago road trip on general principles (or lack thereof).

i'm in; aladfar will come with me (i'll speak for him since i know i can talk him into it and will probably be his ride). any evening after seven / anytime on the weekend is good.

Yeah, good thing you didn't set it for the reading... directly after the gig, I'll be going out partying. I'd be all "Hi! Bye!" No good.

Dan, if you're going to set a date, I beseech ya to set it soon, as I'm supposed to fly out to DC at some point soon, and this will help me in scheduling so I can buy tickets. (June looks all sorts of open for me, though.)

end of june for me. and preferably in the city (don't know how many suburbanites are out there) as i don't own a car but would gladly CTA it to meet and drink and carry on.

i'm in town except memorial day weekend, have a guest for gay pride weekend (around june 24) and am out of town for a wedding beginning of july.

not native, by the way: a transplant from east tennessee.

I'm a mostly-native. Moved from St. Louis when I was seven, and have been a suburbrat except for eight months in '93-4, then up until last August. I'm now enjoying Rogers Park's cheap rent.

Late June wouldn't work for me because I'm going back to NY. But early June would.
