What was wrong with wishing a Mefi member a "Happy Birthday"? It's been done before.

9000 members / 365 days == 24 birthday greetings per day.
Unless, of course, only A-listers get to be wished. posted by Steven Den Beste at 5:16 AM on May 29, 2001
My birthday is September 22nd, everyone can prepare now. posted by corpse at 7:09 AM on May 29, 2001
Moreover, a warning of some sort as to the content ahead would have been appreciated... "Happy birthday to MeFi's favorite exhibitionist" would have sufficed. posted by silusGROK at 7:48 AM on May 29, 2001

Halcyon's made no appreciable contribution to MeFi and as far as I can tell, is famous mainly for being famous. There are lots of MeFi members who actually post here. Why not kiss up wish a happy birthday to one of them?
PS: Halcyon can't be an A-lister, he answers his e-mail. posted by EricBrooksDotCom at 5:26 PM on May 29, 2001
My birthday is in the first week of October. Y'all are excused from posting a birthday link to my site, and wishing me well, which will give you a little more time for the approx. 168 other MeFi members you will need to compose greetings for.
Of course, given the way membership is growing, it will likely be 300-400 birthdays in that week.
How about only letting people wish Happy Birthday if they include a link to a picture of a kitty? We loooooove kitties! posted by briank at 6:36 PM on May 31, 2001
