Shoutout: excellent answer proves AskMe works April 11, 2004 6:32 AM   Subscribe

This is how AskMetafilter works. Also, I thought it would be nice to call someone out for something positive, I don't know about anyone else but it's posts like this that keep me coming back. Thanks, chrismear.

I don't know if it's the most useful thing I've learned on Ask Metafilter, but even if it isn't, is doubtlessly one of the most clear, thorough, and interesting things I've read on the web, period. Were I Matt, I'd put it on the sidebar. Wonderful! Thanks chrismear. And thanks, cedar, for bringing this to my attention.

Wow. Thank you all for your kind comments.

I certainly didn't start out intending to write such a long post, but every time I tried to explain the concept of 'key' in a short paragraph, I felt like I'd missed out some important part of the picture... and the whole thing just kind of snowballed from there.

I had great fun writing it. Good way to spend a Sunday morning.

Chris: great job man. I have tried explaining key to my tone deaf roommate again and again, always to my chagrin. now I can just link him to your post. thanks a million!

on a related note, maybe you would be someone good to have in on this idea? I'm a soulless hack for linking to my own askme thread, but i had to do it, cap'n.
