mention of MeFi in USA Weekend. The blurb says "This collaborative weblog features links posted by all sorts of surfers on all sorts of topic." Technically right, but oh Gannett, how you could do so much more.

Is this a USA Today thing or some cheesy ripoff? Is USA Weekend a magazine or newspaper, or just some site with a confusing logo?

It's a Sunday insert into the local papers - I believe the Chicago Sun-Times features it. It's kind of like Access that featured megnut & kottke back in the Good New Days but, of course, more general.

USA Weekend is the main competitor to Parade. And yes, it is a USA Today thing, insofar as it's a Gannett publication. Remember Family Weekly from the Sunday newspapers of your youth? This is it, with a long-ago name change.

In any case, be glad you got a description at all. USA Weekend plugged one of my mailing lists eons ago (1994-95ish), with nothing more than the name of the list and the address to subscribe. I got hundreds of new subscribers off that one-line mention; too bad half of them didn't have a clue what they were signing up for.

"hmm, what could mention MeFi today???"

I'm half-expecting it in the crosswords. I think you know you've made it then, Matt.
