Man, I miss Austin. I'll be there in spirit.

I'm going to try to stop by for at least a bit.

I'd seriously planned on coming, but it seems I brought back more than just good memories, trinkets and a sunburn from our vacation. I have the worst cold ever! Rather than infect all my fellow Austin Mefi members with whatever mountain grown germs I am carrying, I'll have to wait until the next one. I'm severely disappointed. I'd been looking forward to an excuse to go have some margaritas.

There will be a next one? Right? Please?

Dang - I'm in Austin right now (live in Seattle), AND it's my damn birthday, but I gotta do work stuff. Crap. Have fun!

It was fun to meet everyone! (There were about six or seven people there.) I'll have my very, very few photos up tomorrow. We meant to do callouts, but didn't. I got there very late. I did do one callout for a particular reason. I also got there after Beth left...sorry I missed you, Beth! I had been looking forward to meeting you in person.

Oh, and I talked way too much in person just like I write way too much here. Honestly, I previously was much better behaved in person; but I have really been suffering from being a shut-in. I don't think I know how to socialize with people any more. I had to go to my bank a few weeks ago, and I had this really strong urge to talk to the tellers and stuff, just like, you know, those old people who are shut-ins do. It was weird. Anyway, if I talked too much, and I did, that's why. My social skills are extremely rusty.

I would have liked to have met more Mefites. Maybe next time!

Nice meeting you people! We'll have to do that again before too long. Bligh: Worry not. You're good company.

I didn't make it - I was waylaid by people showing up on my porch with beer. Next time, for sure.

I want pictures of all of you! Did vraxoin make it? Or must I seek him out and destroy him?

Yarr, sorry I missed it. We need to do it again soon, so I can make it this time.

Here are some photos and details on the Meetup.

Attending were: myself, beth, boredomjockey, j, lurker don (j's boyfriend), chipr, and lurker heikki. I arrived just after Beth left. J had already taken photos of several people, including beth, chipr, and heikki, and so I didn't duplicate them. Taking photos is sort of a pain. Here are my few:

EB's shoutout

The story of the shoutout is that I know blakewest personally, he actually lives in Austin, but I failed to inform him of the meetup. I don't know Blake well, but we went to (a very small) college together and he's a good friend of my best friend, Darien. Blake made this bowl for him, and Darien thought it'd be funny to use it as a shoutout. I learned that Blake and his wife were expecting a baby last year from reading MetaFilter. A few days later, Darien told me that Blake and his wife were about to have their baby, and I said, yeah, I read it on the Internet.

Hopefully j will make her photos available soon so y'all can see chipr and heikki.

These people look far too sober.

I've been thinking that, too.

Any shots from, erm, later in the evening? (J, we're waiting...)

Sadly, it was a pretty low-key and sober affair. Maybe next time will be more raucous. I suspect the wild bunch weren't there this time.
