Made my first FPP attempt yesterday, and it vanished after being up for about 10 minutes. How? Why? Which mighty being out there did it offend?

It was a double post.

You can always check www.metafilter.com/lofi.mefi to find a post and see why it was deleted.

There's only one mighty being in these parts.

It might have been be funny if it the "Peter, please see me" at the bottom hadn't so obviously been written using a mouse.

At least he was able to identify that it had been posted before in his own thread. That has to be worth something. I probably wouldn't have been able to search for it and find it.
(Out of curiosity, I tried recently to search for a similar link that was a scanned test that had funny answers to an exam. If I recall, it was a math or science exam, and it was like 4 pages. If anyone can help me find that, I'd appreciate it.)

Seth, perhaps this is what you're looking for?

Yeah, thanks monju. I need to work on my google-fu.

It was the ninth result for this seach: exam funny answers. However, I also knew exactly what you were talking about, so I recognized it as soon as I saw it.

I see the word "google-fu" more than I see the word "google" nowadays. Just sayin'.

google-fu is the new google.

google-fu

I can't believe the use of such a racist and demeaning term. Shame on all of you for trying to keep the yellow man down!

Also, don't call it an FPP. Yes, it's a post. Yes, it's on the front page. Guess what? There's nowhere else you can post except on the front page! Yikes!

You can post a comment...
posted by fvw at 6:54 AM on July 16, 2004

But that's a comment. It's not called a "post". You don't say, "My front-page-post has sixteen secondary-page-posts!"

You can post on MeTa or AskMe, neither of which are the front page...
posted by Orange Goblin at 7:13 AM on July 16, 2004

So are MeTa and AskMe the back pages? Are those BPPs? Or, so we can tell the difference, should we call MeTa the Back Page and AskMe the Side Page? "Someone made a BPP about my FPP, saying it should've been a SPP!"

APP -- Ancillary Page Post.

Clearly.

Okay, but what happens when we implement the AP news sidebar, and people post there? That would have to be an APP.

Wish we had a set of standardized recognizable acronymns to tell the various PostToasties apart, but even Matt doesn't like FPP, and I think the MeTa and AskMe abbreviations are too ambiguous. And every time I try to type in the address for the "lofi" page, I do mefi.lofi instead of lofi.mefi. Bad Wendell.
