Um. Doesn't this belong in AskMe instead?
Point conceded. Mostly. It was the polling ("Here is a pie. Who likes pie?") question that threw me.

It was pretty dumb. For a post, anyway, regardless of colour.

If it belongs anywhere, it belongs in AskMe. But then, I felt the same way about this one.
I suspect we're going to see more of this genre of posting/questioning.

Technically, none of the survey-type questions ("What should I do for New Year's?" or "What companies do you boycott?" or "Who likes pie?") belong on Ask MetaFilter, because there are no definite answers. If Matt sees them as benign, however, there's little to worry about.

It kind of sucked as a post. It's more of a thing I might link to on a sidebar on my personal blog, not MetaFilter.

That alligator was cute, though.
Anyhow, what's you guys' take on exotic animals? It's the hot-button issue of the season.

discuss.metafilter.com ?
or perhaps
coffeetalk.metafilter.com ?
methinks new signups are looking to get their name in lights and as a result are sliding down the slippery slope of relevance to the blue and the green, figuring the worst that will happen is a deletion, a flame, or a call out in the grey
poor application of judgement using the risk/reward model, and as a longtime reader without privs, its certainly starting to lower the median post quality
i almost find myself looking at the name of the poster prior to reading the material to give myself an initial expectation of quality

I don't think it's a matter of metafilter needing a new site for shit, I think it's more a matter of not posting shit, regardless of background colour.
This belongs on a personal weblog. A personal weblog I don't read.

How about test.metafilter.com? Anything goes, no moderation.
Although, I am biased because of my uiuc.test newsgroup experience.

I agree. My first blue post was poor and I probably wouldn't post it now however the urge to post something was overwhelming.
On the upside poliFilter is but a shodow of it's former self.

Not a very good AskMe question. Better off in the blue. The second sentence ending a question mark was a throwaway, and probably unnecessary.
