Jingle Rock Bell December 24, 2004 11:39 AM   Subscribe

AskMefiFollowup: I like to sing Jingle Bell Rock, but using only the words "bell", "rock", and "jingle":

bell rock jingle rock
Bell jingle rock
Rock jingle rock
Bell jingle bell
Rock bell
Jingle
Rock rock bell
Jingle rock, jingle rock
Bell bell bell

Drives my wife nuts. I'd record an MP3 of me doing it if someone could find me a karaoke track.

P. S. Tail, Esq, has followed through just in time for Christmas: May I present you with Jingle Rock Bell

It sounds like you were dancing around as you sang it, too! (i do that with the music for "Do the Hustle" and just ordinary sentences--purely to annoy a friend of mine) : >

brilliant!

I was singing this to my wife the other night, after you posted it. This is so infinitely better! This'll be making an appearance tonight!
posted by Alt F4 at 11:45 AM on December 24, 2004

OK, now you did it! My wife is now driving me nuts singing this (with some ad lib la-la-la-la's).
posted by swordfishtrombones at 11:49 AM on December 24, 2004

My wife says she can sympathize with PST's. It took less than a minute before it was driving her nuts, too. And the kids lasted only a few seconds longer.

Which is great, if you ask me. That means I can slip it into their playlists and be sure to annoy them! Thanks PST!

I am in awe. This is just the ticket to annoy my family.

I especially love from about 1:30 on, as you start getting tired.

This is great. Never thought I'd have PinkStainlessTail in iTunes.

As quasistoic noted, the Ringles and the Jocks in there spice it up nicely.

Oh and amber, I wasn't so much dancing as bouncing up and down in classic psuedo-autistic style.
posted by PinkStainlessTail at 12:58 PM on December 24, 2004

I should note that the version of Jingle Bell Rock I originally sent to PST was by Los Straitjackets, but it was a bit too uptempo for the needs of this project, so PST went with the more classical Lenny Dee version. I applaud his choice.

Move over American Idolites! Make way for PinkStainlessTail . Can't wait for the remix (hoping it's recorded when you are drunk). Well done.

Gawd, you suck.

Being a holiday and all I have a home office filled with kids. They saw this. They won't stop.

If you read about the guy who lost it Christmas Eve and was dragged away by the police screaming, "Rock. Jingle. Jingle. Bell," well, let's just say, we'll be seeing you in court.

The original Jingle Bell Rock annoys me to no end, but your take on it is possibly the funniest Christmas song I've ever heard. Thank you, P.S. Tail.

Is there any rhyme or reason to the order of the words?

Thanks PST! I've been getting my (christian) co-worker to listen to a lot of unconventional christmas songs, and this is going to be perfect!

Fantastic! Merry Christmas from Kansas City (where I'm with my family). I fear playing this for my mom, as she very well might insist on getting the whole family together to sing a version. Or at least her husband. They'd put it on their answering machine.

I wasn't before?

Not that I'm consciously aware of, but if I ever go into therapy this is definitely getting played for clues.

My husband just looked at me and asked, "What the hell are you listening to?" He wasn't a fan, but after following up PST's masterful rendition of Jingle Bell Rock with John Denver's "Please Daddy Don't Get Drunk This Christmas" (#12 on the list for a sample), he saw the light.

Just a couple of observations: 1) This is definitely the most heartwarming MeFi holiday moment ever, and just to keep us from melting into a complete quivering puddle of blue/grey/green love... 2) Tarrama's earlier comment thanking PST for "a memorable song for a virgin burn" looks so much like "virgin bum" (thank you, Verdana, for all the entertainment throughout the years!), that, again, I'm laughing through the tears.

My sister this morning (while gifts were being passed out): "This is painful." And she's on post-surgery opiates, even. But my mom and her husband were giggling. Well, my mom kept insisting that everyone listen to the words. "Listen, this is funny. C'mon, listen to the words. Hey, listen to the song. People!"
