Hmm, I've seen pictures of Newmark in articles about craigslist.org and they didn't look like that guy on his bio page.

Interesting. The description says two web pioneers will discuss their approaches but lists three speakers. Is this a subtle hint to one of the three? Or is someone a moderator?

mathowie, if you go to any parties at sxsw, make sure to watch your purse! btw, does anyone know if they release transcripts of the symposia? Because although many of us can't attend, it would be interesting to read the dialogues...

Molly is the moderator, though she's run her own communities before.

Two pioneers, plus one dork. Two plus one = three. Easy.

Ana Marie Cox, why do I resent you so much?

Oh good. A moderator.
By the way. Good thing there have been so many major floop-flapples in MetaTalk lately. Should give you great material!

Getting back on track...I'll be there. It was looking like there might be a MoFi meetup during Interactive...I wonder if that's still on.

the hand raising is in the "I'm going too" sense, and not the "I too am stalking mathowie" sense.

So on the subject of "how to grow an online community," will you be sharing adventures and misadventures in opening the floodgates to $5 noobs? How much of it will be "how to" and how much will be "how not to?"

The most interesting part of any "how to" session is always the "here's what I screwed up" part.

er, as I didn't want to post it on the front page, I'll just sneak it in here as there is #1 talk.
A boingboing piece mentioning Sir Matt.

I'll be there, too. (Shameless plug for my own panel.)

I went to SXSW a few years ago... a cursory look at the site shows me that it's the same faces this year as then. Be sure to let us all know if anything new happens this year.

heh, crunchland, you are correct in many ways. I've done panels that were "here's how to make a community" and "wow, communities are really hard" and "sometimes users are jerks" in the past, and I'm hoping we can break new ground. We'll probably focus on the future of community stuff or taboo subjects like money and how to reward good behavior.

I'll be there, no plug, you can find my site. As we got closer to the event, I was going to ask about a Mefi meetup.
So, Mefi Meetup?
