Photos of last night's San Francisco meetup.
posted by DaShiv to MetaFilter Gatherings at 4:15 PM (22 comments total)

In attendance were: bendy, cali, caitlinb, DaShiv, one MeFite who wished to remain anonymous, and two guests.

In strict and pious observance of the day in honor of our good and dear St. Patrick, I partook heartily of Ireland's finest export, and thus, bendy will be your guest photographer. I'm not sure what was supposed to be on the agenda for the evening, but with 5 women and 2 men, it was quickly and unanimously decided that yes, men are easily hypnotized. I don't think I heard the word "shoutout" mentioned once all night, but in my defense I plead inebriation. Thanks to bendy for seeing me back in one piece to the Bart station afterward.

Rumor has it that we may be having a very special guest at our next meetup. If you're in the area, you won't want to miss him...

Waitaminnit... you met up in the back room? But they have lights on in there!

I don't see any whiskey.

What's wrong with you people? I was referring to Lucky Charms.

Eamon: :)

obloquy: Ironically enough, even though this place actually had some lighting, I had brought the wrong lens along anyway. One day I'll get all this right.

Lucky Charms, DaShiv? I thought you were referring to Irish Spring soap...
(and the ladies were thankful...)

Oddly, DaShiv, my personal irony was that I couldn't make it last night because I was at an event that is performed in total darkness.

A rather polite and restrained outing, by FriscoFilter standards, it seems to me. Good shots as always, DaShiv. Cali is my new favorite MetaHottie. *Rushes out to buy oversized periodic table*

So I'm thinking of looking into this MFA program for photography... Ha ha ha no.

one MeFite who wished to remain anonymous,
Huh? Not even with a username?

As much as I love getting credit for it, the tungsten gang sign is actually a shoutout to its originator, mandyman. Some of you may remember her...

Cali is my new favorite MetaHottie.

I'll second that. Hubba Hubba.

Huh? Not even with a username?

Yes -- even after I mentioned that it'll cause me to break out in hives and rashes over not being able to caption properly. Excuse me while I apply a new coating of Calamine.

it was fun to meetch'all... even if us anonymous guests and whatnot were given the 'ol "what the heck are you out-of-towners doing on our turf" treatment and a fine discussion of local politicians we've never heard of... and the snide "I dunno, he just started talking to me" from Bendy. snif... I'll never be accepted as a metafilterer...

Actually, that "toy" snark was in response to a joke a while back where someone told me that real photographers don't use their cameras like toys (such as by dragging the stuff out shoot their friends in bars, for instance). So the shot in question turned out to be far sillier and toy-like than anything I myself could have intentionally produced. That'll show my critics.

Aw heWhoTreatsDaShivsBigFancyCameraLikeAtoy, come back, come back, I was only joshin' you.

You all should see the way the little girl in this pic treats DaShiv, himself, like a toy.

She does it to everyone, in fairness. He's just remarkably patient about it.
