Safari/Firefox on OSX userpage comments discrepancy April 7, 2005 5:28 PM   Subscribe

My user page lists 347 comments to MetaTalk, but when I click on that 347, I get a display of 1-50 of 432 comments. No similar discrepancy for MetaFilter or AskMetafilter. This as viewed in Safari and Firefox under OSX 10.3.8.

Discussed here, I think. Unless that was different. I'm not sure there was ever a resolution.

Yeah, seems to be the same issue. Likely theories there. Sorry, missed that thread. Can I have my weekly MeTa post token back? I want to complain that someone spelled color with a "u".

Me? I only did it because the thread was about Canada! It seemed appropriate!

Those missing comments I believe are on deleted posts, which are all hidden.

I can't be positive, but I'm pretty sure the spell checker wants to change "Metafilter" into "Mafia," too.

squirrel: will you make it to the meetup?

Answered in that thread, q. This one will blip soon.

I don't think that's it, Matt. The MetaTalk posting history pages reflect the larger number, not the smaller number that shows up as as part of the posting summary on the user's main profile page.

Well, I'll have to look at my counts again and see what the discrepency is. I might be not counting deleted stuff for the user page but displaying deleted in the output, if it's the other way around as you say taz.

Actually, for me (for mefi) it brings up threads on which I didn't comment, but went so far as to preview a comment before changing my mind.

It's like thoughtcomments or something.

frecklefaerie, you probably thought you were previewing, but you really posted (you just clicked the wrong button). Each of these brings up a posted comment by you in the thread.

When did askmefi and meta diverge? quonsar suggested in the other thread that their splitting caused this problem.

Hm. Well, I didn't arrive until after the split... so...
