rationing to, say, one front-page post a day? September 13, 2001 7:28 PM Subscribe
Since we're on something of a war footing here, can I suggest some kind of rationing to, say, one front-page post a day? I know that MiguelCardoso simply mucked up the URL on his last topic, but it just makes it harder to follow the active discussions...
what would mathowie do?

Miguel, you remind me of one of those citizens from 1984. Just take a deep breath, everything's going to be okay. You're elevating senior mefis to god-like status. Don't give them any ideas!

Yes, we mustn't forget that Matt is, after all, just your ordinary, everyday, average human being just like you and me. As can clearly be seen in this candid snapshot:

At these times, i am so overcome with joy, on bended knee, bowing before th' spirit of our Benefactor, i can only express myself in song...
"Haugheyluia, glory glory !
Preach it cross th' land!
my double-posts are all erased,
By mathowie's patient hand!"
/me collapses into a reverie and begins squeaking in tongs.

I hope this stops before we get into snake-handling.

Geoff,
I'm all for respecting senior MeFis. They set this place up, beat out the rules, keep it nifty - specially the frequent posters who somehow bring cohesion to often fragmented threads.
As a newcomer I look to them in order to appreciate what sort of culture and teleology I'm entering. I can't stand whining newbies who expect to be treated on the same footing and take pleasure in the easy-peasy sport of taking a potshot at the veterans, as if they were some sort of prefects or something.
If you read MeFi daily it's amazing how often the sharpest comments and the most useful links come from the same group of senators. It's also quite touching - oh they'll love this - that they are also the guys who take the trouble and time to contribute to MeTa and guide us rookies through the forum's hallowed roman columns. The soft saps!
So, yes, I'm afraid I'm going to have to talk to my friends in the Senate and have you banned forthwith.

Actually, I best embody the spirit of MeFi at its zenith, so I'm the person you should be listening to and emulating. Just watch me for examples of how things should be done, the right tone to take, constructiveness lessons, etc. I hope this is helpful, and to see you acting like me soon.

You are not logged in, either login or create an account to post comments
But, hey, forget me and get down to the real posting we have all come to expect and demand!
P.S.
Mercifully the MeFi guardians inked out my blunders. Isn't it great to know for a fact there is Somebody Out There?
