Is the DNS for metafilter.com down? April 8, 2005 6:08 AM Subscribe
Is the DNS for metafilter.com down? I can't reach ns1.turlyming.com or ns2.turlyming.com. This might not be causing problems for everyone yet as DNS lookups get cached on local nameservers, but still needs fixing quickly.
I can't hit the irc server at irc.metafilter.com either, maybe it's related?
And I'm on Time Warner cable for what it's worth.

ask and metatalk just dropped off the DNS here. I was lucky to save the ip address so put them in my hostfile now.

The server farm where the turlyming box is hosted is undergoing some power grid rennovation today. They claimed it was just going to be two hours offline, very early this morning, but I think it has extended beyond that.

Comcast's DNS is also down worldwide as of this morning, according to other people in our building that aren't cool enough to be on DSL or to have their own DNS servers.

Yay, we're back. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have one of the nameservers for metafilter run on the metafilter server instead of having them both over at EV1?
