After careful study, it was scientifically calculated that the "C Lounge" has the perfect patio for an evening meet up.

Ooh! Oooh! It's funny, I was just thinking it was about time we had another meetup! And then I see this thread!
I'm going to plan on going. Who else? posted by orange swan at 3:31 PM on June 12, 2005
not me. Next time have the meetup in philadelphia portion of toronto, Joelf. posted by filmgeek at 3:50 PM on June 12, 2005

Doh! Can you make it on Sunday instead? I'm flying into Toronto for YAPC on the 26th and leaving on the 30th. posted by sbutler at 4:21 PM on June 12, 2005
Sunday bad... Pride Parade. Saturday better... I'll be killing a hangover :D posted by dirtynumbangelboy at 5:44 PM on June 12, 2005
I'm going to do my best to be there! After hearing about the crazy happenings last time, I don't want to miss it! posted by nprigoda at 7:28 PM on June 13, 2005
too bad you didn't go for Insomnia, though, you silly, silly people. posted by dreamsign at 9:49 PM on June 13, 2005
Teehee. Well, with luck, nobody's car will get scrunched, and I won't get drunk and uppity-faggoty ;) posted by dirtynumbangelboy at 4:39 PM on June 14, 2005
A MeFi meetup at a place described as "posh"? You're kidding, right? :) posted by greatgefilte at 8:27 PM on June 14, 2005
Dude, C lounge is fucking gorgeous. Absolutely fucking gorgeous. posted by dirtynumbangelboy at 8:47 PM on June 14, 2005
Jesus. Is someone going to reserve some space? This sounds like it's going to be hard to get in the door. Why didn't you just pick The Lobby?!
(again, Insomnia is an excellent backup. just sayin) posted by dreamsign at 9:19 PM on June 14, 2005
So it's definitely Saturday June 25th, 7 pm at C Lounge?
I might make it... posted by Shane at 6:53 PM on June 15, 2005
So it's definitely Saturday June 25th, 7 pm at C Lounge?
I wouldn't mind going, but that looks rather out of my price range and a bit on the uppity side. I'm not sure I'm cool enough to go to such a place. Plus, indications are that it has a 'strict' dress-to-impress code for Saturday nights. Is this really a meet-up sort of place? posted by jacquilynne at 9:36 PM on June 16, 2005
I won't make it but I gotta say if I were free the C Lounge would totally make me not want to go. Wouldn't something like the Cameron or Green/Red Room or even Cobalt be more appropriate? posted by dobbs at 6:57 PM on June 19, 2005
From greatgefilte's link: "$12 for a gin and tonic". WTF? posted by dobbs at 7:03 PM on June 19, 2005
I think I'm with jacquilynne and dobbs on this. It sounds out of my price range. posted by philfromhavelock at 6:02 PM on June 20, 2005
Any non-club kids up for a post-meetup meetup somewhere a bit less tony? posted by greatgefilte at 8:17 PM on June 20, 2005
Sorry, gang. We've had to put off our trip to the big city till the following (Canada Day) weekend. (I know, sacrilege leaving Ottawa on the big day)
But if people are interested in, as you say, a bit lower-key meetup, I humbly suggest Insomnia that weekend, say, Saturday night. (best avocado, chiken and brie sandwiches for, I think, $8 -- the smoked salmon sandwich is the same price and amazing, and martinis cost anywhere from $7 - $10.50 (for the super-deluxe, giant ones). There will be DJ spinning if that adds/detracts for you. posted by dreamsign at 7:36 PM on June 22, 2005
Let's meet there, catch the vibe, and take it as it comes. posted by joelf at 3:29 PM on June 24, 2005
if it's too crazy and expensive we'll move somewhere else. posted by joelf at 3:30 PM on June 24, 2005
Well, I've been to the C Lounge. And it's not open until 10. And now I'm at an Internet cafe on Yonge Street wondering if the meetup is actually happening anywhere, or if I should just go home... posted by orange swan at 5:52 PM on June 25, 2005
I was at the c lounge. I waited around till 7:30, nobody showed, so I left. Maybe next time... posted by joelf at 9:58 PM on June 25, 2005
Oh, no - we went but the place didn't open until after 10.
Was this a joke, or what? posted by Zetetics at 7:34 AM on June 26, 2005
I didn't go (I was at the movies... and also I couldn't go to c lounge because my tuxedo, top hat and canvas sack with a dollar sign on it were at the cleaners) but I am curious about the time discrepancy... joelf says he was there at seven... but it sounds like it didn't open until ten.. was it open in the afternoon/evening and then closed until ten? Can anyone explain this? posted by Fuzzy Monster at 9:44 AM on June 26, 2005
i waited outside. posted by joelf at 11:42 AM on June 26, 2005
So much for scientific calculations...
No offense, joelf, but I think it would've been better had the time and place been democratically selected and agreed upon, rather than imposed upon the rest of us. Earlier meetup threads (not that I've been to any) seemed to have a lot more discussion with regard to where and when.
That said, shall we try again? posted by greatgefilte at 7:09 PM on June 26, 2005
