Fireside Chats with MeFites June 14, 2005 5:07 PM   Subscribe

Every once in a while, I find myself wanting to ask questions in Ask Metafilter that would fall under the category of "chat filter." I wonder how successful/productive a section of Metafilter resembling Coffee Talk with Linda Richman (you know, "Talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic.") would be. Is there, by chance, any effort to produce such a section in the works?

Go to metachat and yak it up, Crushinator. You will be amongst friends.

Try this. Just include a link.

It depends what type of chatfilter question you ask. Some will be allowed to stand, others will be called out and you will be dragged in here and you will be labeled a moron or similar.

There is an expression, perhaps you have heard it before, "It all depends on how you spell your last name."

I'm not really interested in a chat parlor, but metachat is there if you want to know everyone's favorite color.

Dude. Thanks melissa may, exactly what I was looking/hoping for (a place to discuss things that may not belong on Metafilter).

Not, *Metafilter*...but thanks anyway, mischief.

THE FIRST RULE OF METACHAT IS DON'T TALK ABOUT METACHAT!

Oh, crap. *Vanishes in a puff of irrationality, logic-loops spiraling and recursing into nothingness*

Dude, if anything, the first rule of Metachat is to talk about Metachat.

Come on in, Crushinator, the water's fine.

Metachat is a soution but the beauty of the MeFi stable is it's simplicity. Unfortunately the Metachat screen is a bit of a visual mugging.

As in black-on-white. Actually, I think we should start talking about MetaFilter in its down state as "the white."

Pancake is not a colour, you idiot - it is a state of mind.
