Seattle Meetup anyone? I'm thinking Saturday, December 3, 8pm, at Sunset Bowl in Ballard. Rocketman may be here from Kansas, and I hope warbaby can come down and wow us again with his bowling skills.
Rocketman's in Wisconsin, FYI. I'll email him this thread, in case he doesn't see it.

Yeah, I fly into town at 8:30 local time. We're staying downtown at the hostel.
Where's Ballard?

Where's Ballard?
A few miles north of downtown. Google map to the Sunset Bowl.
Getting there promptly from the airport will require either a car or the placement of rocket boosters on the number 197 (SEA to downtown) and 15 (downtown to Ballard) buses.

Since you're probably stopping at the hostel first, you may not get there till 10:30 or so, maybe by then we'll be totally liquored up and hooting it out in the karaoke lounge.

Damn. I keep not being able to come. That weekend is: my mother in town, with her car we're thinking about buying; stet's dad in town; my company holiday party; the weekend before the last week of classes.
Ugh.
I'd rather sit around with all y'all.

If you did it the following week, the Sunset Bowl would be smoke-free! (Oh well, I can't go anyway, so it doesn't matter.)

It'll be a stretch, but I'll see if I can c'mon down the the big city and bright lights. I have a deep and unsettling need to visit Boeing Surplus.
My mechanical mad-scientist jones is getting ramped up again. See the muzzle-loading sausage gun at the testing range. We'll be moving up to a breech-loader soon, then maybe a revolver, followed by a gatling gun.
I'll stand outside smoking and dare people to call the cops. My plan to deal with the smoking prohibition is to encourage anybody who makes noise about it to dial 911. Hopefully, after a while the 911 dispatch operators will go totally insane.
And you're all in deep trouble -- I have a new bowling ball.

I remember meeting Jessamyn and Mars Saxman at the Sunset Bowl back in the day when I went to my first meetup. I guess I missed the karaoke action in the lounge later on. That I regret in retrospect. Jessamyn is a firecracker in person. I rather doubt, for various reasons, that I will appear.

ballard isn't paris. FYI
Nope, but it could be Seattle's new Paris. Or was it Seattle's old Fremont?

Getting there promptly from the airport will require either a car
...which I won't have...
or the placement of rocket boosters on the number 197 (SEA to downtown) and 15 (downtown to Ballard) buses
...which ain't going to happen.
We'll probably be taking the bus from Sea/Tac airport to the hostel, and depending how I feel, I might catch a bus from there to Ballard.
The 15, you say? I'll check out the routes, and if I can catch it nearby and get back at a semi-reasonable hour, I'll make the trek.

Rocketman: the LandYacht USLS Indominable will be available for towncar service if I make the trip as planned. Let's confer as the date approaches. You can ride in luxury. We are equipped with a full-service portable bar.

I'm heading south from Bellingham either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. The goal is to hit Boeing Surplus early and then TAP Plastics on Westlake. What are you drinking?

I'll probably be there, too. Do they still serve Bud in bowling pin shaped bottles? (Not that I really want to drink a Budweiser, though.)
