Happy 2nd anniversary AskMe December 8, 2005 12:47 AM Subscribe
thirteen plants a seed and sure enough, 3,400 posts later it shoots. Happy anniversary AskMefi. [I ♥ that it was about cameras]
Two years already? You've got to be fucking kidding me. My life has changed not one jot in those two years. I'm depressed now. Party on people; I'm going to sit in the corner and get drunk. I apologies in advance if I do a sick in the plant pot like last time.

This comment in the founding thread is particularly prescient. Good call y6y6y6, no sign of petering yet ...
Thank you Matt and thank you Thirteen, AskMeFi enriches my life.

I love Metafilter. I love the community. I love the people I've met. In some ways, I even love the bitter, snarky bickering sometimes. (Hell, that's why I read MetaTalk.)
But if the Internet was collapsing tomorrow and I was given the choice to save a single website, it would be AskMe. Metafilter is community, but AskMe is the power of community. Frequently it is truly awesome to read. Thank you, AskMe, and thank you, AskMefites.

AskMe is my favorite part of teh MeFi, by far. Good advice and agony aunt entertainment, what more could a web-browser want?

Heh, remember when all the cool kids used to call it AMF?
Oh, and how about giving Hackworth some credit?

Personally, I preferred AxMe.

I guess I was wrong about not having much to contribute to Askme, considering that as of today comment I have 700+ answers. Only one of them was off-topic and snarky, I swear.

Dag Maggot: In Matt's defense, he did make that prediction nearly a year before he re-opened memberships. I don't think it would have petered out myself, but I think AskMe began to hit its stride when the new members arrived.

Holy crap... it's been 2 years?
It's also Jim Morrison's b-day. Word.

God, that's hilarious to read the early predictions... That Matt wouldn't read it often, so it'd be a haven for bullies and that it would peter out...
And so many names that have gone away...

No, this is. Or at least, it's the only AskMe without an "Older" link. Appropriately, answer #1 comes from user #1.
