I've been told that ignorance of the law is not a valid defense. I'd think that feigned ignorance would be less effective.

Which is a kind of foolish way to get your post count up. One it draws attention to yourself so people are watching for the egarious FPP, and two just pick a dozen thread from November and no one would even notice.

I'm halfway between edgeways and the lynch mob. No, we shouldn't bite newbs, and this is definitely understandable behavior in some forums -- but really, she can clearly see that other people aren't doing it while she's participating in these threads, so pleading ignorance here is a minor feat of limbo.

Be lenient or don't, but definitely clip the links.

When my wife wants to make me feel really bad about me spending too much time on the computer, she asks if I'm in my "chat room". I have, heretofore, always been able to angrily shout back patiently explain that MetaFilter is NOT a chat room, or a "board" for that matter.

That truth (and the self-reassurance it imparted), even if it isn't recognized as such by the single most intimate person to me in the universe, always made me feel better.

My faith is shaking here, people. Give me a foundation, dammit.
