A google image search for "self link" gives the Tower as the first result.
The Tower is an unsettling card. Fire, lightning, falling on jagged rocks - definitely looks like trouble! Card 16 will not be welcomed by those who dislike change. It represents a sudden, dramatic upheaval or reversal in fortune.
Maybe this can be the new image posted to self-link threads.

Just in case you are just being obtuse, self-link is forbidden in Front Page Posts. Full stop. End of Story. Next time you want to post a link, check the guidelines. Or just read the prominent note in the "Post a Link" page:
"Note: You read the guidelines, right? Because linking to your own site or a project you worked on in this space will result in a deletion and your account will be banned. Post it to MetaFilter Projects to announce your work instead, which was designed especially for this purpose."

sofocles92 - Precisely in case where you are acute, alone it is prohibited first page in the places. Complete attitude. Finally the history. The next time you want to place a connection, it checks the directives. Or read precisely the sticking out note in a "place connection" page:
"Note: Read the directives, right? Because the connection in your region or a program where you worked in this interval will lead to a deletion and your assessment will be prohibited. Afterwards this in the programs MetaFilter in order to is announced your work of this, which was drawn particularly for this reason."

Or, less obliquely, I think we may have a language barrier.
The last two self-links were made by folks who didn't seem to have a solid grasp of either reading or English. Could it be possible that we need to account for non-English speakers to prevent more self-links?
If English is a second language for someone finding MetaFilter and immediately seeing a great guerilla marketing opportunity, we may be asking too much if our expectation is that they've read the guidelines. For someone like that the only point of joining is to get their link in. Read the guidelines? Not likely.
Not sure how to solve that problem though. But since the self-linking section of the guidelines is the only part we'd need non-English speakers to read, perhaps put that in multiple languages.
Also - Uzful.org, I was told by my supervisor the other day, is the number one site to go to for pictures of naked underage children. Apparently, the folks who work at Uzful earn the majority of their household income by putting these preteen pornstars to work for them making basketball shoes, you know when they're not selling drugs to minors. Have you heard about Uzful's latest venture? They're apparently responsible for the grisly murder of children. Somebody told me that one of the staff at Uzful raped his wife and children. These accusations mesh well with my own suspicion that Sofocles Damp is a syphilitic hamster abuser whose urine drinking habits have driven him rather insane. Still, I don't that should forgive Sofocles Damp, or Uzful, for the serial murder of rodents by anal insertion. It's just not right.
Of course, that's all hearsay and I haven't a shred of evidence or substance to validate any of the above statements. They're merely rumors, and quite possibly entirely false.
Uzful.org sucks.

Sofocles92 - is Exact, when where you, to be sharp, the one first page in places are forbidden. Finish the attitude. At last a history. Next time you want to place communication, checks supervising principles. Or read precisely to surpass the note in page of communication of a place:
"Pay attention: Read supervising principles, the right? As communication in its area or the program where you worked in this interval, will bear to suppression, and his estimation will be forbidden. Later it in programs MetaFilter for is declared his work of it which pulled especially for this reason."

Just thinking out loud, but is the reverse ever true? That is, how common is it for native speakers of English (with no other languages) to go about spamming on non-English messageboards/portals/blogs/etc.?
At any rate, I don't think it's too much to ask for everyone to read the rules of any site before posting. If I wanted to advertise or even just participate on a non-English site, I'dbribe languagehat find someone to translate the guidelines for me first.

Also, maybe these blatant self-links should be totally nuked from the database here.

Gator : "That is, how common is it for native speakers of English (with no other languages) to go about spamming on non-English messageboards/portals/blogs/etc.? "
Actually, I don't think native speakers of any language with no other languages would be able to spam on non-[insert native language] sites. There were some minor skirmishes during the Brazilian take over of Orkut, but even this subsided after Google mail-bombed the guidelines ("When posting, always use the form official language") into my unwashed compatriots for some time.

What does everyone think about deleting MeTa threads like this one after the self-link is identified and removed from the Blue? I don't know about you, but when I see a self-link callout, I go to see who the member was, and then I'm tempted to click and see what grand and glorious site they were willing to self-link in the Blue.
In other words, long after the post is dead, the MeTa callout is still generating traffic to the person's self-linked site.
Maybe disable the self-link when deleting? Or how about deleting this callout? Would that be okay?

I'd agree with this, though I expect some would complain that they "wanted to see it for themselves" or something along those lines, the way some do when AskMe questions are deleted -- "I was really interested in that and now I can't follow up/check it out for myself/etc."
