Front page broken? January 11, 2006 6:26 AM   Subscribe

Is front page posting broken, or was there just nothing to talk about in the last 11 hours?

Just keep hitting F5 enough and something will show up.

My vote is for broken. I just posed this to the front page, but I can't actually see it on the front page, even after hard reloading..... Very strange.

Very strange. I see my post of 10:09 but not anastasiav's post of 10:23, yet it is alread seven minutes old.

There are plenty of new posts, they're just all dupes.

I had the same delay problem yesterday. I posted the leaders debate thread, it didn't show up for a while, possibly 5 minutes. After 5 minutes went by I thought it must have been me, wrong button maybe, or the fact that I forgot to include tags, so I added tags and tried again. It did eventually show up (at least 11 minutes later, judging from the time stamp on the more inside part), but the double never arrived...

There's a caching bug at the moment I can't track down. The front page is regenerated every 10 minutes and for some reason my code that flushes the cache when a new post is made is being ignored, so at the moment a new post will appear on the front page anywhere from 0-10 minutes after you make it, even though the thread exists.

I'm hoping to fix it today.

maybe it's related to update delays for user pages (which is still happening, but i think it's less than 10min)?
