Federated Media and what it thinks of Metafilter March 18, 2006 5:21 AM   Subscribe

Apparently, we are collectively high quality authors catering to influential and highly engaged audiences with passion, integrity, and authority (scroll down.)

MetaFilter attracts 1,000,000 monthly uniques (20,000 of his readers are registered contributors to the site)

We are now a he, apparently.

I'm working on a FPP in notepad right now that has neither passion, integrity nor authority in order to correct this slander.

I think this must be referring to the old MetaFilter, before they let me and my kind in.

I started a meme that started the whole world crying.
If I'd only seen that the joke was on me.

I think I'm gonna go have a long cry now, in despair that the typical asshattery of MeFi is so much better than whatever the alternatives are, that it qualifies as "high quality &c."

I mean, sure, I'm with mischief: I (sometimes? often?) try. But I hate to imagine that this is as good as it gets.

Damn. I need to post more often in order to lower the tone.

I'd say you're doing a pretty good job of it as it is. Gold star!

fff: I've looked, believe me, but MeFi really is as good as it gets. We are the cream of mankind.

All FM does is place the ads on sites? or do they own a piece of here and those other sites?

Are we not all Matt?

All Matt and a bag of chips.

Mommy's all Matt
Daddy's all Matt
They just seem a little weeeeeird...

We are the cream of mankind.

Out in the real world, there are millions, maybe billions, of well adjusted people with more passion, intelligence and integrity than all of us mefites combined. These people just don't think that refreshing the pages of metafilter and metatalk over and over, and dribbling their little musings out in a textbox is what life is all about. (Hard to believe it, I know.)

The big question: what is it about putting ads on websites that means FM Publishing should get venture capital?

Totally Bubble 2.0.

We're the cream of the navel-gazing loudmouths, then.

Or maybe the cream of mental masturbators.

Or the cream of those with verbal diarrhea.

Or just plain creamy.

"Do you want to know where 'memes' start? Try the group blogs www.metafilter.com and boingboing.net"

*facepalm*

Boingboing is not a group blog. It is a circle-jerk for a half-dozen asshats. You can't even comment!

Even at LGF you can comment!

AND THEY ARE NAZIS!!

*waves hands over head*

NAZIS!

Thanks. But really, pointing out the stupidity of people who believe old books full of obvious nonsense only deserves a silver at best. I'd save the gold stars for those witless chimps. They really lower the tone of an otherwise reasonably intelligent site.

That is the very definition of a group blog.

Forget the keyboard or the moniter...You owe me half a living room.

Seriously. I'm stuffed up and now I'll have to explain the boogers and cheap beer all over the couch and walls.

Also, I was wondering when we all get our big fat "high quality author" checks. Anyone?

Our pay is all rolled up in Matt's recumbent bike and flat screen tv. So unless you want to go mug the guy (which I wouldn't recommend, as it's probably a bannable offense), you, like the rest of us, are completely and utterly shit outta luck.
posted by crunchland at 12:50 PM on March 19, 2006

It's only bannable if you get caught.

(Should've splurged on a sock puppet for this comment, I suppose.)
