we should definitely get sloppy drunk again. I concur re: avoiding a Lucky Lab repeat, but am otherwise open to suggestions. Late May sounds lovely.

I suggest Roots Brewing, which is only a couple of blocks away from the Lucky Lab has *much* better beer and is, IIRC, smoke free.
Also, I suggest not-Memorial-Day-weekend for the date because I'll be out of town and I've missed the last 3 meetups.

Memorial Day weekend is 5/27-5/29. So maybe we're looking at 5/20 or 6/3?
I too vote against the Lucky Lab, although they had cute t-shirts. It was like drinking in a cafeteria.

6/3 seems too far away. Do you people actually have social lives that require planning that far in advance? Howsabout 5/13?

Of course, now that I think about it if we do wait until 6/3 it should be warm enough outside to actually be outside (this weekend was a freak occurrence that I refuse to acknowledge as anything resembling spring).
6/3 is the Starlight Parade, so downtown is out (unless there are ladies who want to go to Kell's and hit on drunk sailor boys, or guys who want to do so at more discrete venues).
Also, I think this deserves a FPP when surrounded with links to similar resources in other cities...

I believe the Rose & Raindrop lets groups reserve the upstairs and/or the back room. And they have a metric buttload of taps.
East Bank Saloon is kind of a dump, but has outside seating.

Judging by the turnout the last two times, the Yamhill pub would be quite a bit too small to handle us.
I've never been to the Rose & Raindrop, but I've heard good things, and the #6 bus can drop people off right there from downtown.

I've never been a big fan of Rose & Raindrop with larger groups, their service tends to get really wonky. Also, since the weather is just bound to be nice, it'd be cool if we could find a place with a patio. My suggestions for places that can accommodate larger groups with patios close in on the East side near busses are... Acme, Billy Ray's Neighborhood Dive, Amnesia Brewing, and Moon and Sixpence. They all have rotten service too, now that I think of it, so if Rose & Raindrop wins I'll still happily attend, of course.
I'd also like to share that I just realized that I'm busy on 5/13 because 5/14 is Mother's Day and my Mother will be visiting, so it'd probably be best to ignore everything I've said thus far. Also, we should get Mathowie to come out and play.

The Lotus is one of the shittiest, most unjustifiably overpriced bars in Portland ($3.50 for a fucking Pabst!) and it's usually crowded with slackjawed twenty-somethings that spend too much time in tanning salons. Ick.

I vote for The Acropolis. 50 taps, and for you carnivores, outstanding bargains on steaks. There may also be some entertainment there.
Unfortunately I now live in LA (well, not exactly unfortunately given the circumstances) but I thought I'd throw that spot out for you. Mull it over. If business takes me to your neck of the woods I'd love to hook up with the pdx mefi massif.

So, Holman's then? We'd have to get there fairly early to ensure patio seating, but they do have the added advantage of surprisingly good cheap bar food, including the single best drinkin' food I've ever had: deep-fried mac 'n' cheese wedges.

Holman's is a brilliant suggestion, but in the interest of making a decision... Rose & Raindrop hits the first three and is on the Eastside. It also got a good number of votes before I started whining about the crappy service. I say we go there on 6/3.
Now the real fighting shall begin... 6ish? 5ish? 7ish? Is 4:30 too early to start?
We could just have a MeFi/MeCha/MoFi picnic.

Holman's is goodfor groups that slowly grow, especially on the patio. I've been there with as many as 15 people, and it was fine. It wouldn't, however, be so good for 20 people who all show up at once.
Rose and Raindrop is fine, too, though.

Rose & Raindrop offers both MFP and Slow Bar as further jumping off points/spill over locations within literal crawling distance.
Holmans is pretty much the opposite of classy, but the suggestion of pool tables reminded me that neither the Rialto nor Goodfoot have been dragged into the "debate" yet... ;)

I just went to the Rose and Raindrop for the first time recently and rather liked it. A very decent selection of beer and interesting architecture/decor. The gumbo wasn't bad either. So +1 for the R&R.
I think that June 3rd should work for me. I might be moving that weekend, but if so, I should at least be able to take a break and wander over.

I like the GoodFoot, but it's not exactly convenient for people who don't live in the SE.
It sounds like Rose & Raindrop on June 3rd is the consensus. Let's just say 6 and people can show up before or after then and it'll all work out.

Yeah, they redid the rialto awhile ago. It's not nearly as sleazy/sketchy anymore, but on the other hand it still smells like a cheap vegas hotel.....
I'm not sure I can make it (because of ever constant work - which is good,) but I'll try.
