Self-linker?

Are you asking if FPPing a link to your own flickr account counts as a self-link? Yes, I think it does.

What were you thinking, WD?

I've found that invoking your mother in a post may very well be one of the harbingers of Metafilter doom. Or at the very least one of the four horsemen of Metafilter doom.

I think the post could be salvaged if it was rewritten. Something like how fractal generators are online (link to them, link to standard galleries of fractal images) and how fractals are seen in nature such as in the sea (links to the stuff your mom mentioned).

It could have been done without the backstory and without the self-link. The post has links to stuff I've never seen before, but it reads like a personal blog post that would be exhausting to read if it became the norm around here.

WolfDaddy, just mention the whole mom thing and link to your flickr acct as the first comment in the thread. It's actually a fascinating post except for the whole GYOBFW aspect. And I'm loving the music in the You Tube linked in Spanish Dancer. If anyone knows who that is I'd like to hear more.

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life, anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Playing with fractal generators can result in images that remind some of creatures in the natural world. Did you know that the nudibranch^ can be evocative of certain Julia-set fractals? Especially when you see them in motion. Be sure to check out the "scubadiving" and related YouTube tags for other deep-sea creatures. I especially liked this one.

and my apologies, I'm posting under the influence ... of Benadryl. Sigh.

Remember when you were six? You and your brother snuck into an empty building through a basement window. You were going to play doctor. He showed you his but when it got to be your turn you chickened and ran, you remember that? You ever tell anybody that? Your mother, Tyrell, anybody? Remember the spider that lived outside your window? Orange body, green legs. Watched her build a web all summer then one day there's a big egg in it. The egg hatched...
