It looks like a pretty run-of-the-mill MetaFilter political thread to me.

So in a FPP about factual inaccuracies we have ourselves an actual factual inaccuracy. What's the problem?
But seriously, I could vote for it being corrected... 93 comments later.

blatant is a word that completely loses its meaning after I repeat it out loud two or three times.

I'd like to see the hazard light as the whole reason for this post to get deleted. Nothing else, just

Honestly, due to the nature of the internet, I agree with the deletion request. People tend to believe everything they read, and they're not gong to read that it's factually inaccurate until many posts down the line (which means they probably won't read that it's inaccurate). Sure, it has tons and tons of comments, but you can bet it has tons and tons more readers than comments.
Not only does it suck to have false crap like that in the short term, it's forever cached in google for the long term and who knows if it'll be the number one search result for hezbollah un ambulance ... or something to that effect.
Having that post there is worse than wikiality .. :-p

Or strikethrough the false text, and add some kind of edit text stating the truth

Yes, we must protect people from wrong information. For we are the wise men, we must lift the Progressive Man's Burden. Not for ourselves, but in service for those poor souls less enlightened than we.
OK, I actually would delete that post, and every other political thread, especially the four or five Lebanon/Iraq threads that have been posted since Matt put up the rotating light and the warning not to post on those topics. (For those in the dark, go to the blue and click the New Post link).
But the idea that we can't have false crap on the front page is violated every freaking week, by some conspiratorial nonsense or other. Trust people to figure out the truth.

Thirded. Matt and Jess, you've edited posts in the past for incorrect statements or misrepresentations of the linked content (most recently, the rape accusation against the Girls Gone Wild guy). This is just as serious, I'd suggest. Please consider striking through or deleting the incorrect characterization of that link. It'd still be a shitty, overly opinionated Middle East post, but at least the most obvious disinformation wouldn't be there anymore.

So this survives, but the GGW rape accusation got deleted?
At this point, the ghost of Ken Lay should be asking for an edit..

Maybe the ghost of ken Lay should have some time out so that he/she can get their facts straight; or maybe a better username.

Maybe he needs a callout all his own?
I like the idea of someone posting in character, especially as Ken Lay in heaven. Many of the comments are hilariously awesome because of the way it's written from the perspective of Ken Lay...
But is the opinionated FPP posted in character? Would that make it a troll? Or is it, like some of the comments, the author shining through, not as Ken Lay?

Ken Lay in heaven
In heaven? I don't think so; he was reporting recently on a conversation with Richard Nixon, if I remember correctly.

This thread should be deleted or reworded because it is factually inaccurate.
Mathowie has set a precedent that simply because something is inaccurate does not mean it gets deleted from the front page.
So, y'know, just post this all in the thread.
