Floating the idea of a Sydney meetup in the next few weeks...?
Can we try for the Alfred Hotel on a Sunday again? The lure of free pool and the lack of crowds is compelling.

Could be good. Is the Alfred near a train station? No have auto. Can't figure out bus.

It's just behind Sydney Uni & RPA Hospital.
You could walk from either Redfern or Newtown station - it would be around 10-15 min from either.
Otherwise, any Parramatta Rd bus from Railway Square will get you close, or else the Campsie bus (412? 413?) will take you to the doorstep.

I have recently been afflicted with social leprosy, if I come along and no one else shows up, I'll self immolate - is there a smoking section at the Alfred, or will I possibly suffer a double humiliation?

I think the pub itself is all non-smoking now, but there is a courtyard out back where you can smoke.

It's the 412 that drops you right there, although if you're training it then I'd probably jump off at Macdonaldtown which I'm pretty sure is the closest.
As for me turning up, well I can't make any promises, especially after my poor effort last time, but I'll be sure to keep it in mind. Of course now I am working at the abysmal horrors of Myer, so might not be free.
God I hate being young.
