One, two, three, and now four MeTa threads about this one meetup? If every meetup starts doing this as a solution to MeTa's 36-hour turnaround, we either need to frown furiously upon it, or we need to come up with a better way to plan and track these things.

We'll be have a simultaneous meetup in Ann Arbor (assume we're still there when you're having yours).

One, two, three, and now four MeTa threads about this one meetup? That's because the sheer awesome contained in this MeetUp is too much for a single thread.

Klang, this clearly demands interstate cellphone call shoutouts.

Crud. I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. Which is a real shame, as I was looking forward to singing songs about wearing MuFi icon t-shirts.

Plutor -- right now the announcements drop quickly off the front MetaTalk page, which is the reason for the reminder posts. (Yes, you can use the new push-here-for-meet-ups button, but it's not the same somehow.) It would be cool if meet-up posts could be "refreshed" or something so that they moved up to the front page as we got near to the event.

Personally, I think if Metatalk is flooded with meetup posts instead of lame complaints about the "unfair" deletion of this or that op-ed post, we all win!

Wow, great pictures! And a damn good night out.
Special thanks to #1, who subsidized most of cortex's excellent adventure, cortex for being such a good sport, and tangerine, who helped organize.
Turnout was good: cortex, ClaudiaCenter, tangerine, wilky, Mister Cheese, obliquicity, trevyn, DaShiv, wimpdork, MikeKD, yours truly and raar (mrs. scrump, now with her own account).
Much beer (man, we love us some Hefeweizen), mayhem and merriment, many shoutouts, a attempted telephonic shoutout to Ann Arbor (complete with fratboy accompaniment), and the deeply spectacular head of Mister Cheese, who may never go drinking with us again.
Thanks to everyone who came out to play: it was a great time, and an excellent reminder of why it's the people who make MeFi such a great place. Or such a terrifying place, your choice.

And god help you if you try and order it in the original German.
"I'd like a hefeweizen."
"Pardon?"
"A hefeweizen?"
"Oh, a heh-fuh-WHY-sen?"

Also introducing wilky and the willis/swordsman/tailor known as MisterCheese.
If you'd like to come but can't get here by car, Caltrain and/or ClaudiaCenter can probably help you.
