I was sick all that week when we taped it and on lots of cold medication. Usually I think I'm more lively than what was recorded.

Actually, now that I listened to it, it's way better than I remember. They edited most of my rambling and left the few times I got to be funny. I don't know what someone that never read metafilter would think of it, but I think everyone here will enjoy it.

I just listened to it kinda in the background of doing something else and toward the end thought "that sounds kind of cool, maybe I should check it out... D'OH! He's talking about MetaFilter!"

And it was kinda creepy hearing MH joking about setting up a DatingFilter after his recent comment about the Gold Stars.

Maybe it was your cough medicine talking, mathowie, but marriagefilter - eh, not so good. I imagined you on TV ads with silver hair, tweedy jacket and tombstone teeth, hawking soulmates (maybe that was my Harpoon IPA doing the thinking). Everything else, appropriately laconic and fun to listen to, thank you.

I can't really call it "Valley Girl" but there's a hint of that in there. It's really hard to pin down exactly what it is, but I'd know you grew up in SoCal, even if I didn't already know that. I wonder if I sounded like that before my accent got all weirded out by Texas and Canada.
