I doubt any members of the site found it amusing.

Why don't you post something in the thread about how homelessness should not be treated so callously?

The Raven did a better job, that's all.

You mean they aren't vermin? You have a big job ahead of you convincing a lot of people otherwise (many of whom proclaim themselves to be liberal).

Hey! Take it to, um, MetaFilter.

Haha! It's funny because they've lost their dignity!

Once again you've beaten me to the punch, Hildalgo, you prince of misspelled names, you king of witty reparte, you scourge of the grey sea, you... you principled knave*. One of these days I'll get you and be done with all this Mr. Claw-like waving of my iron-gloved fist. One day...

Until then, well met.

*It contradicts the meaning to say you're principled, but knave is just such a cool word that I had to use it without insulting Hidalgo.

-----

All joking aside, can't we all agree that it's funny to make fun of people's shortcomings and perhaps even expand this idea into weekly plank-walkings? Come on, be honest, it's a good idea. Instead of sharks we could make them walk a plank that extends out over the murky, swampy waters under the bridge where that evil trolloc Stavros resides. For irony's sake, we could start with all the intolerant homeless bashers. That irony thing always brings a solitary tear from my good, un-patched eye that trails slowly through the scars on my cheek from a million pirate fights. Such is the life of an irony-loving, swashbuckling, girl-oggling, mead-swilling, colorful-pants-wearing, virtually-existing pirate who writes lengthy, awkward prose that nobody but he cares to read.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, matey!

To clear up any confusion, I dress up like Mr. Claw during the week and like a pirate for weekends and casual fridays. But when there's a plank-walking afoot, I'll make exception to the rule and dust off the pirate garb.

because arseholes like that dont listen until theyre sitting
on the sidewalk themselves.(and remember i said that when youre down there).
no one has to agree with me ,
but it doesnt sit right to let people post stuff in this manner
without posting my objection to it.
maybe its ok to say some sections of society are vermin
though eh ?
i notice if the guy had included a newslink or an i/p
link it would have generate a few million complaints,
but 'the homeless are vermin' ?
oooohhhh step right up mister !
this is nothing to do with irony, this poster and some of the ones here have all the comedic talent of goebbels.

Actually when I hear the word "vermin" I think of all those high and mighty executives who sold their stock and bailed out while the little man lost his retirement nest egg.

Just sayin'.

We're all walking the plank over the hungry, waiting snarks, anyway.

"...chip the plates, thats what Bilbo baggins hates."

Actually I’d love to have Bilbo Baggins over, yet chipped plates is all I have, unless paper suits him fine.

Does any one else find the way the post was presented as coming off as this community is reflecting a negativity to the homeless? Besides sgt. serenity whom I’m taking that the comments in the post is what was the offensive?

The post for discussion was fine yet I originally skipped it because when I read the post before opening any links, I thought it was a troll of a post. But when I read it, there were some interesting information. Happydaz that is the only thing I had trouble with, the post headline on the front page of meta-filter seemed more of a jab at the homeless. You know we may have in our own community at Meta these folks, homeless.

Matt felt there was nothing wrong with the post, but what if it was deleted, some of our community might have needed the info, that’s all.

PS, shane I still think the Butcher (a deeper meaning) is the snark.

Gotta agree with your sentiments entirely, Sarge. But oh oh. Now you've done it.... unmercifully provoking that little undie-wadded crew here who whine when feathered quackers are rightly called ducks.

Heh! But it's more fun for me to play with my way. And I was thinking maybe I could just call out excessive snarkiness by posting this graphic in small form.

Then give him a knife, shane. Lewis Carroll is my blame inspiration for even liking literature at all.

I just hope you don't have to pay for your mistake...

Damn, how did I forget my own fucking moniker? I mean, "Doctor" is just so... formal. Even "Mr" is starting to push it a little, but I have to find middle ground somewhere, yeah.. Besides, I don't have a legitimate doctorate in anything but being evil, and it's not recognized by whoever recognizes those things.

that was close...

Then give him a knife...

The snark is already knife-toothed
butcher, all scurnshaw and grabbly
to leave bitmarks on the poor trodden
hecatomb off'ring to its Snidely Gods...

(...or something like that. Best I could at the moment...)

$8.7 million.. 75 people. That's $116,000.

If I were on the street and someone gave me $116,000.. I'm sure I could make a better life for myself than going to live with 74 other bums in a fancy version of a squat.

This story deserves the ridicule and light-hearted treatment HappyDaz gave it. He was bang on.
