Preemptive moratorium on Elcomsoft DCMA acquittal postings December 18, 2002 7:02 AM   Subscribe

I may be overreacting, but can I put in a preemptive plea that no one posts about the Elcomsoft DMCA acquittal until there's an interesting link to go with it (like a commentary from a Lessig like legal scholar for instance)?

Acting preemptively to keep something that 1% of the world's population has no clue about from being posted on a single website is overreacting. It's a really nice day outside where I am, how about you?

[sound of crickets chirping - quizzical glances]

We need pleas like this? Well, okay.

Can I put in a preemptive plea that no one posts about the Boston University donor scandal until there's an interesting link to go with it?

Like I said, I may be (indeed probably am) overreacting. As of yet there's nothing out there about this verdict that's worth posting to mefi, but I was worried someone would throw up the Wired or Cnet story rather than waiting for something more meaty. This is probably just me thinking to much.
And the weather here is crap.

ps now that you mention it, i'm surprised this acquital hasn't already appeared on mefi. still, we just got a nice link to an empty site that will have, in several more hours, something interesting on it. because presumably the poster just couldn't wait in case someone else took the chance to make a crap post first. grrrrr.

Could people also refrain from posting about the George W.Bush Cuervo commercial, in case it's never made? Also, the MeTa thread about the funny Onion story: could it possibly wait until it's actually posted? Btw, that snarky comment I'm bound to make before next February in the Terminator 3 thread, I'd like to apologize in advance. Thanks. ;)

And the next snarky comment I make which includes the phrase "okay little camper"? I would like to make a preemptive plea to myself not to do that.

I'm surprised it hasn't appeared as well. We get all jumpy over Creative Commons, I'd figure the same people would be interested in the Elcomsoft verdict.

I would like to implore all involved to maintain a civil tone in the Bush impeachment trial thread when it finally gets here. We're all in this together.

Well if somebody does post the result of the verdict, please add an accompanying link on why I should care because I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm just going to use this as a great opportunity to apologize in advance, to whomever I may will offend in the future.

(ears perking up to the low whistling sound of the far more inevitable "Gawdamn that Two Towers movie was great" post hurtling past our brand new MetaTalk Pre-Emptive Post Defense System and plowing into a nearby Olive Garden)

Well! That worked as advertised.

i'd like to apologise for the tasteless joke :" this tampon... it vibrates." i'll make in the femenine hygine product thread that will be deleted quicker than anyone can say bounty the quicker picker upper. sorry XQUZYPHYR .

I take offense at y6y6y6's preemptive "little camper" apology, a rain check on rush's proto-moratorium on the Bush impeachment and raise the forner a regretted rejoinder to his Miguelisation crack, followed by Calvados, walnuts and kumquats. I also pre-laugh at quonsar's following kumquats crack and recognize my subsequent apology for such gaiety was all-advised, did not mean to target the gay community and was not in the spirit of the mirc syphoning-off mecanism.

Now I feel clean enough to proceed, Auntie Elizabeth.

Apparently President Bush has made preemption quite fashionable. Whatever happened to sweet, sweet vengeful retaliation?
