Called out on the callout of the callout July 27, 2003 1:22 PM Subscribe
Most of you probably don't care about this thread, but I got called out on my callout, and... [more inside]
Oh, oh, two more things I forgot:
1.) If you click on the username.mefi links above, remove the trailing slash.
2.) Based on feedback to the post, most America-based MeFites couldn't care less about the subject matter, though the story seems to have gotten lots of play in international news. Why is that?

Brownpau - your link brings up 30 results from Google news whereas a search for 'Kelly Blair' produces about 4200 (at time of press). Maybe you should have been saying why this story matters to you rather than criticising people for their ignorance of your culture.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate this callout a 'fart in a windstorm'. ;-P

I just want to apologize to both cup and azul for my unwarranted snarkiness.
Apologies accepted and no harm done.
I agree 100% with what you said regarding posts dealing with headline news. Background information, related incidents and profiles of key players transform a "Newsfilter." post into a "[This is good.]" post. When the quality of one post increases, the quality of the entire community increases so I am glad that you pointed it out.
I just thought that it could have been done a bit gentler.
If it seemed that I was calling you out then I apologize because that was not my intention.
Mabuhay! :)

To clarify, the word "Mabuhay" is not offensive to me or any Filipino. Rather, its use as a mere interjection into unrelated commentary struck me as poor usage. That said, my opinion on the quality of the FPP still stands, and I wish people composing this kind of Newsfilter post could throw in a little more effort to provide some background information, rather than just linking a headline and a blog, then ending with a couple of exclamation points. A decent FPP needs more than that.
Uh yeah, that's all. Mabuhay!
