Asperger's Shoutout April 30, 2004 8:08 AM   Subscribe

Just a shoutout to everyone in the Asperger's Syndrome thread -- really interesting, and civil, even with disagreements. Ponies for everyone! (and Lairbob, SpecialK, and calwatch get thoroughbreds)

This thread seemed to provoke a lot of self-discovery and sharing of personal stories. I'm surprised at the latter, this isn't The Fray after all, but pleasantly so. We're an interesting bunch, aren't we?

Yeah, that was good and I'd missed it until I saw it here, so a discreet little shoutout to amberglow, too.

good stuff, as I said in the thread itself. there's something to be said in favor of AutoBiographyFilter and ConfessionFilter. it's a miniefield, tho. but that's also what makes MeFi so consistently interesting after all these years.
and anyway, let's not start suckin' each other's dicks quite yet

I sent that thread to some folks I know who have a child with autism/Asperger's syndrome. I also went to each link and printed it out for a colleague whose son has been IEP'd and while nothing as hard and fast as autism has been diagnosed in his case, he definitely has "learning differences" at age 7. I would say that this was a very good post for both the info presented and the comments offered. Thanks to all!

I missed that thread when it appeared and only today, because of this MeTa thread, did I read it. Everyone was quite well-behaved and the thread was educational. I did add some thoughts, quotes, and links that might be worth taking a look at, since I've learned quite a bit about AS recently.

I would have missed it as well but thankfully Monkeyfilter had a fpp about it.

Toodles.
