DC/Baltimore Gaming Meetup July 20, 2004 8:27 AM   Subscribe

I just wanted everyone to know we're still trying to arrange a DC/Balitmore Board Gaming MeFi Meetup over on the Wiki. It's been a while since we've discussed it over there, because we had some roadblocks with vacations and such, so I though I'd mention it here again. If people are free, we'd even be interested in doing it this weekend.

I'm in. Either Friday or Saturday are good. Anyone else?

I'd love to, but I might be required to go help deliver a baby at any moment. Do we have a tentative location? If it's very far north of DC, I probably can't do it.

I'm out of town this weekend (carry on, though), but might play some future time. What sorts of games are you bringing? (I'm in DC.)

The tentative location is at my place in Columbia, MD. (between DC and Baltimore) If you want to see my game collection, go here. I assume others will bring games as well.

I'm up for it this weekend, sure. I can't view your list right now, emptybowl; what kind of games are we talking about?

Will there be punch and pie?

Are people that don't know how to play these games allowed to come? Will this interfere with my seeing TMBG Saturday night?

He's got all kinds of games - from Puerto Rico to Pit to Citadels to Cosmic Encounter to Acquire to Bohnanza to Bang! to Vampire Hunter to Age of Mythology to ... Seriously - he's got a lot of games. He said that he's going to try to get a list (that you can access without registering) up tonight.

Previous game experience not required, but helpful. All are welcome. All are welcome... (Go into the light...)

We can have punch and pie, Jart - if you bring them. ;)

Okay, I fixed the game listing so you can get to it without registering. Just go here. Each link will take you to a description of the game on BoardGameGeek.

So, there seems to be some people for Saturday and some people for Friday, so if you want to go, head over to the Wiki, and say which day you're available. (Either's fine for me)

It looks like we're set for Friday. Check the Wiki for details.

I just want to note that you don't have to know how to play these games to come. I have no problem teaching people.

So. What happened?

I kicked all kinds of ass in Star Wars: Epic Duels. ;)

And I'm pretty sure my neighbors probably though I was murdering someone due to all the screaming while we were playing Pit.

We had a lot of fun. Jart and Khalad and Tuxhedoh joined emptybowl, one of emptybowl's friends and myself. Here's what we played...

Fluxx
IceTowers (brought by Tuxhedoh)
Cosmic Encounter
Bang!
Pit (the old school version, also brought by Tuxhedoh)
Star Wars: Epic Duels

We were hoping to see annosaurus_rex from Monkeyfilter, but she didn't make it.

Since it was so much fun, maybe we can do it again sometime.

Oh - and can I say what a crime it was to have one of the lame-o Imperial Guards win Epic Duels? Chewie was robbed!

I had a wonderful time, despite losing every single game. Next time, I'm cheating.
