I don't really have any huge gripes about the iMac thread itself, other than it being lame ProductFilter. But, yeah, I know everyone loves to talk about it and I ignored it until I saw the pre-emptive MeTa post about it.

Am I the only one who thinks that's completely surreal (even more so than the bizarre Bono rumor post in AskMe)? I don't think I've ever seen someone raising the issue of something not being posted, then have the thread turned into some kind of group committee for deciding who gets to throw himself on the sword. It would have been much easier to either (a) not post anything and let it go, or (b) just post it. Instead, it took two posts to get to one questionable one. It's like MetaMetaFilter.

Tell me I'm not alone here. This is all just really, really weird. And is probably setting a bad precedent.
