What if AnonyAskMe had its own page? October 19, 2004 12:11 PM Subscribe
People are concerned about the NSFW nature of AnonyAskMe questions and about the large volume of AnonyAskMe Qs pushing posts off of AskMe more quickly than before. What if AnonyAskMe had it's own page? And what color would it be? Maybe a hot red or hot pink?
Puke yellow. These AnnoyMe questions make me feel like someone is playing cat's cradle with my nerve endings.

Right, another benefit of a dedicated Anony page: non-fans could avoid it entirely.

I think the "problem" is greatly inflated by it being new, as I haven't personally approved any anon posts in days now.
I think they will be 1 in 100 questions in the future, and won't be a problem or degrade the site, so they'll stay as they are. There were a rash of questions in the first couple days, but few since then.

Thirteen questions in a week. I think some users ask more often than that.
Or, uh, what Matt said.

I think it should be a black, black page. Like black hole black, where it sucks all those stupid questions in past its event horizon and they're never seen again.
But that's just me.

Okay, I guess the many posts were just an initial phenomenon then ... a sudden release of pent up, frustrated urges. Mostly sex questions, natch ;-)

I think it's only fair that we let Anonymous decide that. Who's got their e-mail?

As a person whose anon question was NOT approved by Matt, I'm all for the separate page idea. I presume then the questions could be [MI] anon with anon replies as well. And, those who feel that anons are a waste of time could just not visit the page.

That joke about how we should call it "the Pink" just gets funnier and funnier.
Get it, fellows? the "Pink"
heh.

Black-on-black works for me, too. "Oh me oh my, my girlfriend has a hairy back and I don't know whether I can love her or not" indeed. Fargh.

For what it's worth, I haven't been approving a lot of anon questions because they're either too long and drawn out (a problem with the system that I built that requires it), or they could certainly be asked by someone under their own name. Not all the questions are crazy sex ones, some are quite tepid, but I don't know why folks used the anon option.

The only valid anon ones, IMO, are those where the question-asker's alias is well-known in his/her peer group (ie. like mine; many of my friends know me as "Fish") and the question would destroy his/her relationship with that group; or the alias is known to his/her employer and the question would result in job loss.

AnonyAskMe? If at all, AnonyMaskMe (or the dull AnonAskMe).

Jeesuz, people, does this guy sound BORED or what? Let's get some seat-wetting material in PRONTO.
I hope a pic of Matt hunched over a queue of perverted Anonymous questions shows up on 10 Years of My Life soon!
