I'm in, and for real this time.
I vote DBA; Brooklyn is just too far, although the prospect of meeting FreedomP *is* tantalizing.

Tea Lounge is the coolest cafe/bar in NYC.

It's only a 35 minute subway ride from Fairway, and correspondingly closer to points south.

I posted this in a AskMe thread, so I hope you'll excuse my repeating it here: I've been meaning to go to a meetup for a while now, but it never seems to work out. I can't go to this one either (though I second the praise for the Tea Lounge!), because my play is performing that night. However, if any MeFites would like to come see the play (and get a drink afterwords?), that would be really fun. It would be cool to meet you.
There's info/ticketing about the play here: https://smarttix.com/show.aspx?showCode=ORE44
(If you use the secret code "Argos" when ordering, tickets are only $10)
I directed the play and I'll be at the door when people come in. If you DO come, please say hi.
Otherwise, I'll try to catch everyone at the NEXT meetup.

I may or may not have plans on Friday (Nat'l Treasure is coming out, which a few folks said they want to see, and it is my job among my friends to organize movie nights, or they don't happen. ) If that falls through though, I'd be interested. I'm booked on Saturday anyway, though.

DBA is a fine establishment, mere yards from the 2nd Ave. F.
Paris, you sure we can't convince you to go two stops into the city? It would make my week...

I have no idea where the Tea Lounge or DBA are located. I'm staying at the Hotel Grand Union on 34 east 32nd street. Just let me know where to be and when to be there.

Paris, speaking for myself, I mock you for bowing out of the meetup, and I will next time, and the time after that, until you show up, but realistically, I know from busy, and this stuff isn't worth rearranging your life for.
It's just that -- I like to think that we're just your BEST FRIENDS IN THE WHOLE WORLD. Some of us like you so much, in fact, we have made the ultimate sacrifice, and have learned to hate your online persona. (I know, I know!)
At some point, you must come out and have a beverage with us, even in a non-official meetup capacity. We can have a good laugh at how completely out of touch with the universe everyone is, and then change the subject to something we can all agree on.
We'll have to figure out just what that might be. But I believe.
Come out if you can, but don't kill yourself about it.

All that said, I will probably show up.

Well, in truth, I only feel comfortable in neighborhoods with poodles, big arches and municipalities that begin with the letter "p"; or shopping malls. Hence Paris or Paramus or Park Slope. Let's meet in Poughkeepsie!

Paris, where are you located in Park Slope? I live in Prospect Heights (another P) right around the corner from the Brooklyn Museum. I go to the Tea Lounge all the time. Maybe I've seen you there. (I go to the bigger Tea Lounge -- the one on Union near 7th Avenue.) Any other MeFi people hang out there?

What, dame? You get out at 1st avenue and walk straight down. It's even gonna be a nice evening.
And net time, we can go to Philadelphia, or Providence, or Pensacola, ... I hear Port-Au-Prince has some lovely arches, many of which are still standing.
Man, does it ever suck to be evil evil evil and have the world at your feet.

Probably no one even knows who I am anymore, but I love coming to these MeFiestas. Good news/Bad news. I am back on the East coast, but unfortunately this isn't enough notice for me to be able to come to NYC on Friday -- I'm based out of Boston now. I may be in town the middle of next week & would love to have a drink w/ some of you all maybe weds or thurs... if anyone's interested, email me.

pp: You can buy me a drink, sure. You just have to cross into Manhattan to do it.
(And then I have to actually show up at one of these things. Should have done it last time, when it was around the corner. Well, perhaps I'll win some $ at my poker tourny tomorrow and feel all rich and social and surprise myself.)
And I'm a he.
And I don't wax. But that's just me.
