You mean when people say, "On preview..."?
That's when they hit preview and notice that, since they typed their comment, someone else has said something. So you add a little note if required and hit post.
Otherwise, I have no clue what you mean.
And Mefi's been syndicated on lj for a while, hasn't it?

like that? highlight what you want to quote, copy, then paste it into the textarea box (the gray space where you type comments). then type your reply.

oh, and i usually put italics tags at the beginning and end:

Yeah, I also assumed beary means "How do you quote in Preview when replying..."
There is nothing automated. Just cut and paste as quonsar shows above. (quonsar obviously speaks newbie-ese better than most)
