Happy Birthday, Ask Metafilter! Best thing ever. Thanks, Matt.
Do you have any gift ideas?

For Ask MetaFilter's birthday, I'm getting Matt a shotgun, so that he may properly dispose of all of the well-intentioned but lame ponies that have been bandied about since of time immemorial.

That's absolutely frightening, I swear it's been only a few months. That may be because apparently AskMeFi is in perpetual beta with improvements to be done in the "sometime this weekend" timeframe.
I kid I kid.

Freaky. Time flies, eh?
As for the perpetula beta status, here's what the new ask-a-question interface looks like, which I hope to finally wire up soon.

Cool, thanks Matt. But when you do turn that into live code, change "jist" to "gist".

Yes, "gist", not "jist", and I eagerly await the new question-asking interface.
It seems incredible that AskMe has been around for a whole year.

Jesus. A year? I remember how it was all going to be sorted out by January...2004. Not complaining in any way, just saying I didn't realise it had been around so long. Is the more inside thingy going to float across to the Blue and the Grey, or is it just for anonymous posting?

Metafilter was a happy discovery, but Ask.Me has literally enhanced my quality of life on a day to day basis. Thank you Matt! Our worlds are more interesting, healthier, and more efficient because of Ask.Me.

Hooray! Categories and keywords and ponies!
Hard to believe it's been a year. Kudos, Matt, for making a site that's been so useful to me so many times!

Poines for everyone!! Categories too!
What ever happend to the "Great Metadata Tagging Party for all Orphaned Ask.Mefi Threads" day (ok, week) that was planned?! I don't want all of this year's great threads lost to the hands of time because they don't have metadata, sweet metadata.
