It sounds as though this post was meant as a frivolous laugh at all parties involved, which is why the personal swipes sound so out of place. I partially note it because I was about to make a similar FPP, but perhaps should be glad I didn't....

...And not three minutes ago was one of those comments addressed! Sorry, it wasn't meant as a big callout; just wondered what inspired the acrimony.

In the post I was writing, I was going to include this:

"What Ever Happened To... The Ultimate Warrior ?

Where are they now?
No longer wrestles, maintains a website where he posts political rants that are essentially Ayn Rand on steroids."

I have noted a lot of callouts lately. While technically a n00b, I've been reading MeFi for a long time, and it seems that peoples' triggers are pretty light these days. I'm getting more than a little traumatized about my upcomming first FPP now. Yikes!

Strange, I thought it was just a wacky little thing about a wrestler, not a political football match.

Both Alex and dhoyt have been poking each other for the past couple of weeks. Same personalities, same back stories, same flare ups.

Well, then, it all comes down to which of the two, Alex or dhoyt, has pro-wrestling experience and can grab the mic first.

No they don't.

To be honest, I've noticed that AR has made a mission of antagonizing dhoyt at any opportunity. I thought everyone had got over that lil' incident, but it appears not. Please Alex, let it go. Let's all be friends. Everyone? Friends?

Bugbread: Yes they do, fucktard.

bugbread: Quick, hit underer with some of those edited lyrics you put together.

I think all MetaFilter members should be able to freely antagonize each other — as long as they do so while wearing tights.

I'm not sure whether I agree with the generalization, but in this instance, yeah. You don't observe a tense interaction between two other people and then bring it in here. You bring it here if it breaks the guidelines. Poor sense of humor and personal swipes are not forbidden last I checked (just poor form).

I don't mean this as a huge criticism or anything, but what good would you hope for by surfacing somebody's spat here?

Both Alex and dhoyt have been poking each other for the past couple of weeks.

I didn't start a MeTa thread over dhoyt more or less calling me a racist, unprovoked, though I'm sure I could have. In light of this ridiculous callout and the ridiculous standard for said callouts, I'll just leave it at that, thanks.

You were being awfully generalistic about Christians.

Alex - I'd probably say it was less him calling you a racist and more him utilising exactly the same rhetorical tricks that most of us use when illustrating the evil of people picking on homosexuals (which you yourself have used in the past).

You then retaliated by accusing him of beating his homosexual partner which is hardly something to be proud of. I think there is an issue with regards you automatically assuming the worst of dhoyt. I'd be really careful of that or he'll call up your dad and call him a pansy-ass.

taz, I'm envisioning something like -

"MeFites!
MeFites in tights!
We roam around the blue and the gray looking for fights!
Attacking mostly from the left but sometimes from the right!
Having no lives, we flame even on Saturday nights!
MeFites!
MeFites in tights!"

What a tool. Waa Waa fuckin' Waa. Unprovoked? UNPROVOKED? Wow, that's outrageous.
