OSX dashboard widget for recent MeFi threads?

So we have a bunch of intelligent os x programmers out there, right? Anybody willing and able to create a dashboard widget that spits out the past 10 threads in MeFi, or favorites that someone might want to track, or threads with the latest comments, etc? I just upgraded to Tiger and love the widgets; unfortunately, not enough of them are seriously practical for me. This, on the other hand, would be very useful.

Setup a keyboard shortcut, odinsdream, that's easy to reach for quick access. I was having the same problem (I took the clock off of the top right bar and stuck it as a widget instead). Now I'm a keystroke away. I don't have a three button mouse (yet), but I wonder if you could setup the third button as dashboard access?

I really, really wish it wasn't limited to that quasi-otherworldly-desktop-dimension. I'd love to plop some of those things right on my desktop

Funny, since I think the quasi-otherworldly-desktop-dimension is much nicer than having them on the desktop (which I hardly ever see) like in Konfabulator. Then again, I just press F12 on the PowerBook and there they are.

To detach a widget from the Dashboard, use this command (in the Terminal:)

defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES

Then, restart the Dock (or log out and in again.) Activate Dashboard, click and drag a widget, then press F12, while holding the mouse button, and the widget will hover over the normal windows. Reverse for getting it back into Dashboard. Not ideal, but intended for developers. More info in this thread.
