Greasemonkey hex conversion request

Non-Matt pony request.

Can anybody cook up a hexadecimal conversion Greasemonkey script or FF extension? [MI]

With instapreview working, I've found myself using more and more hex codes, for symbols such as ℃, →, and ≠.

I realize that getting MeFi to work natively with non-ASCII codes is too much work for Matt. And, unfortunately, I don't know how to code jack. However, if anyone wanted to be superkickass, a Greasemonkey plugin, or some other kind of Firefox extension that would convert text input into the comments or post box into hexadecimal numeric character references, would definitely qualify you for a superkickass black belt. Anyone bored, energetic, and knowledgeable enough to do it?

On more sober reflection (night shifts play hell on speed of thought), Greasemonkey wouldn't work, and you couldn't do the whole box, or things like this:

김치 said "That's great"

would become

김치 said "<i>That's <b>great</b></i>"

So I guess it would be an extension to change any selected text, via right-click menu, to hexadecimal NCR.

Oooh, even better. (BabelPad -- direct link to download). Paste whatever you like in it, go to CONVERT, then select UNICODE TO NCR (hex or decimal).

This is a test of html like italics mixed with 英語以外の字 and some characters like ℃. Let's see if it works.

Speaking of Greasemonkey, it's been recommended that users uninstall it, or roll back to a much more previous version than the current one.

Reportedly, running a Greasemonkey script on a site can expose the contents of every file on your local hard drive to that site. Just fyi.

These reports are true, but have been fixed (well, neutralized) with the latest version of Greasemonkey. See here.

True, but if good, proper looking elements are just a few clicks away, I'd prefer to use them. I also put accents on the word résumé, and use the word "your" instead of "ur" (not comparing the three, just pointing out that there is a spectrum of shorthand, from the commonly unliked by Mefi users ("ur", "u", etc.), to stuff in the middle (résumé), to stuff that not many Mefi users care about (!= vs ≠), and that I fall on the "≠" side of said spectrum).
