mosch, you know there is a standing policy of not posting chat logs from #mefi on MetaFilter.
Regarding my now deleted thread, there has been multiple single link FPPs on this topic (example) and others. People like wakko wanted it "shut down" as the can't seem to stand having posts to the front page that disagree with them.
And wakko, for someone who's contribution to the site mostly consists of posting "america sucks more every day" in every thread, you are are hardly someone to call for me to get a time out.

Steve_at_Linnwood: you know that you banned me from the channel before I posted the chat logs in question.

I think the bigger issue is that he banned me from #mefi solely due to criticisms levied in the blue.
seriously: I've previously seen steve kick/ban folks on #mefi because they disagreed with him (in channel), his defense being that they were "attacking him" so they shouldn't be allowed in channel. This, of course, isn't #metamefi, but maybe someone should talk to chris.
BEFORE WE'RE ALL BANNZORATED.

I guess my question is whether he banned you before or after you mentioned #mefi at all, because you aren't supposed to do so.
In any case, Steve@ shouldn't have been the one to ban you for very, very obvious reasons.

My apologies if this isn't the right venue. I saw a callout about Steve_At's now deleted post, and thought that it would be an appropriate place to note that he'd also banned me from #mefi for my comments in said thread.
I'll seek my forum more carefully in the future.

I'm not picking on anyone here, I just don't want this to piss off mathowie seeing as how the #mefi reputation isn't that stellar as it is.

wakko, considering the whining you did after your callout, not only in the thread, but elsewhere, it's pretty funny seeing you call for a timeout.

Hm.
I agree that a single link to a Slate op-ed is about the lamest thing a relatively long-term member can do, but I do think Hitch has an interesting point. Why the fuck should the relative of a soldier have pure moral authority? Dowd is full of shit on this one.
Anyway, Steve, try adding some context to single-link newsy posts and you might have better luck. Your post was lazy above all else, and *that's* why it got deleted. A little respect for the smart folks in the ommunity next time, ok?

Steve, a one-link post to an op-ed (by an author I actually like) doesn't make for a good post. As mentioned in that thread, I deleted a lefty post recently for the same reason, so you're not being singled out.

I wonder if Steve's post would have been deleted if it were an anti-Bush op-ed that everyone agreed with, and therefore contributed thoughtful discussion?
Seems to me that the mob mentality works here. Complain about something in-thread, shit all over the post, poster, and related elements, drown out any possible intelligence...and wait for the moderator to clean up the mess. Great plan guys! Makes me feel proud to be a registered Democrat. Free speech! Free speech!
And for those who think I'm just trying to stir the pot, ask yourselves this: If it was so bad, why did so many of you go out of your way to click the thread and deliberately leave a useless comment? If it was so egregious a violation of front page posting rules, why not flag it and move it, instead of creating a big stink?
