For the millionth time, you can't have your pony!
The good news: MetaTalk has over 1,000,000 comments as of today. The bad news: the millionth comment was apparently deleted.
Thoughts on comment thread meta-comments.
Perhaps I don't have enough experience on the site to gauge this, but does anyone else find one liner meta comments about threads really annoying and useless? Perhaps this is something that should be mentioned in the guidelines?
From the negative "This will not go well." to the typical sarcastic "This is thread is going nowhere..." to the positive "I'm surprised this went well!", they seem out of place and more about the person writing it than the topic at hand.
When I remember, I'm going to start marking all of these as noise.

Comments as votes?
Is it fair to consider the number of comments an FPP receives as an indication of community interest in the post? If so, then it is a pity that eustacescrubb's great find (a real best of the web IMHO) gets only a handful of comments whilst yet another FPP about Ann Coulter frothing at the mouth generates so many.

Total Comments in AskMe and MeTa
When looking at a MetaFilter post, the line under the description looks like this:
posted by too_many_notes at 4:56 AM EST (13 comments total) ( feature_request ) [!]
However, in both MetaTalk and AskMetaFilter the "(13 comments total)" is missing. I find this information useful in the thread. Could the green and gray be more like the blue?

two requests
1. How about a standard notice when a comment is deleted from a thread? Replacing each deleted comment with "[comment deleted]" might make threads like this more understandable.
2) MeTa doesn't notice that I've set MeFi to open external links in a new window. External links don't always open from comment preview pages, either, which causes a tiny moment of angst when I double-check links before posting. Am I missing something?

I can't see a preview of my comments in Metatalk, and the login screen isn't showing.
I can't see a preview of my comments in Metatalk using N4.79, and the login screen isn't showing. It worked just fine before the MeFi server outage (*pouts*). It does work correctly in MeFi, tho.
X New Comments Disappears on MeTa
Unlike the behaviour at Metafilter itself, here on Metatalk, after I arrive at the new flat front page with the (x new) flags on threads, if I click into a thread to read the comments then hit the back button on my browser, I seem to be losing my (x new) flags.
Notification of new threads and comments.
Would it be possible to add a "There have been X new threads and Y new comments on MetaTalk since your last visit" to the MetaFilter page?
