Suicide Girls TextAds

So yeah, suicide girls. After some teeth gnashing, and asking all my female friends about taking on suicide girls image ads on mefi, I decided to take them (they seem tasteful to me -- I dropped the ones showing too much skin) with the caveat that a simple click and anyone could hide them forever. Here's what I said when I took their first textad long ago and the same applies here. They are as racy as I will go, and this won't start a slippery slope as they're the exception to the rule.

Text ads linking to linkfarms

Looks like some users are using MeFi text ADs to post google linkfarms. Example: This site, and this one.

TextAd graph is dead

The TextAd graph has gone belly-up. I want, nay demand, fancy graphs to go with my Ad expense, and all I got was this lousy error:

The chart could not be generated due to an error in the graphing engine.

The error occurred in C:\metafilter sites\www.metafilter.com\adsystem\log_report.cfm: line 218

What text do the TextAds use?

Right...so we've got Google TextAds on MeFi, and that's great and all, really it is...but what, exactly, are they related to?

I mean, aren't TextAds directed advertising? I.e. I search for learning styles and on the right are some text ads related to learning styles.

What's the "search term" (for lack of a better phrase) used on MeFi, or, for that matter, the comments?

Some textads are too wide

Some TextAds are too wide (on standards-compliant browsers). "www.ArtSwag.com" and
"STICKERS*PINS*SHIRTS For angry ranters and the people who love them" are two examples. It increases the width of the in which it and the sideblog are nested, thereby reducing the width of the main content column, not to mention leaving a large gap between the right-hand page margin and the sideblog.
The culprit seems to be the title field. A multiworld title with spaces will wrap in the ad-box; the above two examples are long (but within 20-char limit) one-word titles. Can something be done?

what to do with a text ad that doesn't work?

what to do with a text ad that doesn't work?

for those of us seeking gainful employment, the "hiring in ny" (www.cloud.com/hire) text ad is tantalizing, but out of reach. (it requires a password)

any ideas?

I just noticed a text ad for Suicide Girls

I just noticed a text ad for Suicide Girls, a porn site (albeit nicely designed one with a blog), on the front page. What's the policy on porn ads? Should there be one, and if so are we being too puritanical?

Back button runs a new TextAd.

Back button runs a new TextAd.

Just noticed that if I am in a thread I followed off the homepage, then click back, the page reloads with a new TextAd. But if I've scrolled down a bit to click on the thread in the first place (let's say I'm checking out what I missed yesterday), when I go back I miss the ad (unless I scroll up to see what it may be).

I'd assume this counts as an ad served, but it isn't seen. Now I know the ads are real cheap and it is just one count, but should it be different?

what do people think about pushing the TextAds beyond the home page

So if TextAds were so successful, what do people think about pushing the TextAds beyond the home page to the top of the main MeFi links of the day? That would allow for a lot more impressions, maybe at a slightly cheaper rate than the homepage ad rate?

I've enjoyed following the links from the TextAds more often than not, so I'm all for more, as long as they stay relatively high quality (I suppose Matt's the ultimate arbiter in this case.)

You got a problem with Text Ads?

TextAds. As Matt promised, unobtrusive and inoffensive. I certainly don't have a problem with these. What does everyone else think?
