what do people think about pushing the TextAds beyond the home page October 26, 2001 12:36 PM Subscribe
So if TextAds were so successful, what do people think about pushing the TextAds beyond the home page to the top of the main MeFi links of the day? That would allow for a lot more impressions, maybe at a slightly cheaper rate than the homepage ad rate?
I've enjoyed following the links from the TextAds more often than not, so I'm all for more, as long as they stay relatively high quality (I suppose Matt's the ultimate arbiter in this case.)

Something tells me that if TextAd page views were subtracted from all pages and not just the front page, demand would die real fast.

at first i thought that dogmatic was right, but on second thought, why should it matter if you see the textad on the front page or on a comments page?

Your allotted amount of views would disappear very quickly.

I want to keep them somewhat special.
Front page only, otherwise everyone will grow blind to them immediately (if they haven't already).

exactly, justgary. and i get the feeling that metafilter folks wouldn't be quite so willing to keep the advertising cash rolling in as much if they new what they were paying for was going to disappear in a week.

I'd see no problem with it. They're very unobtrusive.
