A while back, I tried to set my Flashgot Firefox plug-in to download all of the files with the address
music.metafilter.com/music/*.mp3, only to find that FlashGot doesn't like wildcards, only ranges (i.e. [a-z], [1...1000], etc.). But I really would like to have a quick easy way to suck all of this music onto my iPod. Dear AskMeTa,

I noticed that the download icon in Mefi Music vanished when I logged out. Is this intentional (to cut down bandwidth demands)?
The dl links go to a straightforward .mp3 files, though, so I'm assuming that you could link to one of those (on your blog, say) and a non-member could download a song by clicking on the link. But would that be wrong?

Etiquette question. I posted this AM about a small software application. After posting it occurred to me that the link was directly to the download site version tracker and not to the software author site. I felt this may have been bad etiquette on my part and I followed up with a comment redirecting to the author site.
My question, Is it bad etiquette to post an interest link to a download site (such as version tracker)? Presumably because many Metafiler viewers will click through to the download site just to "look" or follow the link and thus adding unnecessary traffic to this site.
On a side note, it would be useful to edit a post after posting it , any plans to implement this functionality?

Netscape 6.1 bug: using the browser's back button from inside a thread gives you a popup window asking if you want to download a file of type called "text/html, text/html from http://www.metafilter.com". You have to use the "home" button to get back to the front page, and then scroll down to get back to where you were.
