R_N returns, MetaTalk process changes
Hi. I'm back.
I'm not gonna be modding. I'm going to be handling the administrative work behind the scenes, managing policy discussions, and processing user feedback. For those of you who don't know or remember, this is my professional background - I've done community management for companies large and small, and I'm excited to be putting those skills to use more directly than I did when I was concentrating on moderation. MetaTalk Holiday Queue Time
With US Thanksgiving rapidly approaching, it's time for another MetaFilter holiday tradition: The MetaTalk Queue. [more inside]
Everyone needs to respect what MeTa is for and remember to use it.
If something needs to go to Metatalk, it seems to me it doesn't need mods discussing it in thread while paying lip-service to the Blue/Grey distinction. If people need to defend their decisions, they can surely just direct the conversation here, not do what looks a bit like a drive-by on a Blue thread.
MetaTalk Holiday Post Queue
It's almost time for another major US holiday and we're trying something new here at MetaTalk this Thanksgiving: a post queue. [more inside]

What is the deal with every fifth or so MetaTalk thread being closed? Yes, some get messy, but that is where issues get worked out. The petulant pres closes off discussion because he can't handle it. Why does MetaTalk all of a sudden close all these threads? MetaTalk can handle it.
Closing MeTa threads may be a bad idea
I submit reason number one that closing metatalk threads may, in fact, be a bad idea.
This thread is has [sic] been closed.

Matt, you're closing MeTa threads after four (or ten) comments now?

deleting metatalk, broken blogad
Two things:
1. Deleting metatalk threads is bad karma.
2. The "don't pardon big tobacco" blogad is broken -- apostrophes ['] and quotes ["] are displaying as question marks [?] (this is strange, since quotes are displaying fine in the other blogad).

Deleting MetaTalk threads?
Deleting MetaTalk threads?
Deleting blue threads, I understand and support. But deleting a metatalk thread is unexpected. Of course I'm not on the grey much. Maybe this happens all the time. This has been the first time in a very long time I've been interested in anything going on here so maybe I've just not noticed.
I would think a MetaTalk thread might be closed, but deleted too? That seems counter to what the grey is for, why it even exists. Maybe I just don't understand.
The grey is to discuss things you shouldn't discuss/don't belong on the blue. So now things in the grey are to be slashed as well?
I would prefer it not to be, but of course it is not my say. But I would like clarification, because there are other threads in the grey that have gone FAR BEYOND what I can only assume caused the demise of the affected one and survived.
(Deleted thread purposefully not mentioned so as to perhaps increase the lifespan of this question).
