Yesterday, this post
about the Discovery hostage-taking was edited (with the poster's permission) by Matt. The main result of editing was to remove the term "batshit insane" and the batshitinsane tag. I have mixed feelings about this. Is the term so offensive (presumably, to sanity-challenged folks) as to be unusable? If so, should it even be allowed as a tag? [more inside]

Ok. I thought there was a good chance that this would be deleted pretty quickly, but I decided to go through with it anyways... [more inside]

So we're letting this
stay? It's been there a few hours - I'm just wondering if something changed with policies here. [more inside]

Just curious: what happened to the thread
that apparently linked to doctored photos to make celebrities look overweight? I have to admit I found the thread utterly stupid and offensive, but it's not like it was a double-post. (Heh.) And surely other posts have been kept up that have no redeeming value.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Fishfucker.
So my question is - and I'm not offended by this, merely curious - does MeFi have any policy regarding usernames?

there's trolls in there, lots of them
holloway leads the pack, but there are a few others walking right behind.
matt, have you even looked at this thread? it's really offensive, completely unproductive as a conversation--the misogynists came
out of the woodwork too quickly for that.
honestly, if it were me, I'd boot a few people, but you might consider at least pulling the thread....
