Mormon temple ceremonies
I think other versions of this post linking to a video of Mormon temple ceremonies ought to stand if they're offered. [more inside]
Palinfilter
3 FPP Palins in one day? Enough already! [more inside]
White people on Metafilter
I think it's deleting this link twice shows that Metafilter mods don't have a sense of humour about themselves.
'Very Short Introductions' very short life
I'm kinda bumed this post on the 'Very Short Introductions' series was deleted, but understand why. Any suggestions how to get the book series in the blue, besides pushing illegal copies? The FPP had 4 favorites in its brief life and had some useful discussion starting about the best books in the series.
Talk about PoliticsFilter!
Why is this thread on "penalties for abortion" still here? And the FPP is a Youtube one-link yet.
Linking to Deleted Posts?
Something about the most recent Alberto Gonzales post really irks me: people linking to their deleted posts in comments. It seems to me that this (a) just fundamentally defeats the point of the deletion, (b) lowers the incentive to make a good post in the first place -- since you can always link to it if it gets canned, and (c) is contrary to at least the tacit reasons underlying the no-double-post policy. (Obviously, there's a separate PoliticsFilter issue here, and the problems are related, but I would like to focus on the linking-to-deleted-posts issue and get a clarification on it.)
Hymenplasty?
Anyone know what happened to the Hymenplasty thread? Wondering why it might have been deleted?
I'm sorry about my post

Four questions about deleted posts
Having suffered the ignominy of my first ever (undoubtedly deserved) deleted post, I have four questions:
1. What's the record for deleted posts from one user?
2. How many users have themselves ever been deleted / indefinitely suspended?
3. Is it possible to delete your own account in protest, and has anyone ever done it?
4. Do mathowie and jessamyn have the power to delete each others' posts?

What happened to the Dawkins/Atheist post?
Forgive my ignorance, but what happened to the Dawkins/Atheist post? I was enjoying the article over lunch and when I popped back to the front page, it was gone. Was it a double?
My AskMefi question was deleted.
My AskMefi question was deleted. How do I discover why? Is there a deleted AskMefi graveyard?
Why was this thread deleted ?
Why was this thread deleted ? I was trying to start a discussion on Post Modernism and had hoped Jackmo woud turn up , what gives ? it could have been a classic !I could have learned something !
Why me? Why multi-links?
Some snarky character here informed the world that my post had been scrubbed because it was only a single link. It was replaced by a bigger, multi-link version of the same story. I accuse him of scrubbing it but he denied it. How, though, did he know it had been replaced? But what I really want to know is why there is this new insistance on multi-link FPPs? When I first came to Metafilter I found it useful to have items that interested me pointed out and made available. That was great. I then did my own further research. Multi-link posts generally appear to be posted as a means of either making an argument for a particular pov or to publicize some topic or subject, with a lot of authorities sited much like footnotes. This is not, to my mind what this site used to be about.
As it happens if the intro interests me I want to go to the most relevant link, not plow through the poster's own research. But further, I am not a programmer or enough of a geek to even know how to do the html for all the secondary links, let along italics. My e-mail software makes URLs clickable and it seems that it ought to be simple enough to make URLs clickable in the windows for both comments and original posts. You- and I guess I am writing to Matt here - did try to do italics for a while, but they didn't work for my Mac and they have now disappeared. But really, has this become a place for people to show off theirs html cleverness or to pass along what might be interesting or valuable information? It is called a filter isn't it? What has that come to mean?

It's not ok to link to NAMBLA
"A link to NAMBLA is just wrong". I agree. At least on the front page, it's wrong. (more inside)

Did we really have to delete this thread?
Did we really have to delete this thread? Just when the discussion was getting interesting?
What a pointlessly provocative post
"Do the smirking people in [this single link to a photo I just posted to the front page of MetaFilter for no obvious reason and leading to no possibilities other than a Democrat/Republican pissing match] really feel proud for terrorizing a three-year-old girl?" What a pointlessly provocative post. Delete please.
It's worth the extra effort and will make Mefi a better place.
This really, really sucks. It's quite presumptuous to assume that 17,500 people know everything about the band that you like. Please educate us by providing background information, so we can learn about new things. It's worth the extra effort and will make Mefi a better place.
Why was the WWV post deleted?
Why was the WWV post deleted? Not clever enough? Isn't the ";)" enough to denote it's some type of joke?
was it something I said?
OK, this thread, took a long time to die....was it something I said?
I was trying to promote a different way of dealing with trolls, but - in my early morning fatigue - may have overstepped some mark.
Or maybe it wasn't me, and I'm justy feeling Catholic (free-floating) guilt. Kindly put me out of my misery!

is there any way one can delete a thread one posted?
is there any way one can delete a thread one posted? i am the idiot behind the daniel pearl video rationalization thread that's clogging up the front page and had i realised the page i linked to included screen grabs i would have marked it as such. i shouldn't have linked to it anyway and i would really like to end my own embarrassment by taking it down.
why was this post deleted?
For the sake of review, and so that we may all learn from the past in hopes of making a better future, why was this post deleted?
Deleted post topic pony
Instead of simply deleting posts that people suggest should be deleted, remove them from the front page and disable further new posts on them. That way people like me who don't read MeTa very often will still know what you guys were talking about and why thread x should've been deleted rather than just having to figure it out from comments.
